Tough question as there's very little between them. Both are strong, quick, great in the air and excellent tacklers.

But in terms of the trophy and medal cabinet, Thuram wins by a mile.

Thuram iirc was a RB when he played for Parma and made an effortless switch to CB at Juve. He was a really great RB, good getting forward and bloody awesome defensively. Every aspect of his game is immense. Be very hard pushed to find a better defender.

Cannavaro of whom i havent seen alot, looked like a proper Italian Defender at the WC. Reads the game very well and generally makes everything look easy. Has a dirty side which all greats need. For such a short guy he wins more headers than 6ft+ CBs.

Overall i would go with Thuram. For me he has a little more to his game and can mix it with the elite of central defenders.

Hmm, majority here says Thuram is better. I guess we got the better out of the two Juventus central defenders!!

 

Cannavaro is better at the moment, but as per the original question Thuram has been better overall in the last decade.

I think fi Thuram and Cannavaro both went into 10 tackles , cannavaro would have a 95% to 100% success rate while Thuram would have something like 90% success rate. Also Cannavaro makes up for his lack of height and speed by keepping as close to mhis man as possible.

No not really, Cannavaro would get fooled alot of times while he was in Parma. But Thuram saved his ass. Thurams tackles was alot more vicious, if he tackled someone then you can believe that he would'äve went down. And the accuracy, sorry but that's one of the things that Thuram excells at.
