About the national team, until 1949, there is only one "China" national team, controlled by the Rep of China Football Association.
After the Civil War, the Rep of China Football Association moved to Taiwan island, and still maintain control of the "Rep of China" national team.
Both of these teams consist primarily of Hong Kong based players of Hong Kong nationals (not including Europeans of course).
The "China PR" formed by the PR of China FA but have lesser performance.
Hong Kong team practically a feeder team for the Rep of China team.
In 1971, there was an agreement that The Rep of China team (Taiwan/Formosa) will no longer use Hong Kong nationals and exclusively use Taiwan-born/based players. Later they also change their English name to Chinese Taipei.
So the actual lineage of 1936 (and 1948) Olympic team is the current Chinese Taipei/Taiwan team.
