To do squad of Central America zone will certainly be base in Mexican players as their country have fixed to qualify for almost every World Cup. Even there are eight nations in this zone consist of Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Belize and Nicaragua but only five nations are good enough in this squad.

The Greatest Central America Footballers of All-Time

1. Hugo Sanchez
2. Jorge Alberto Gonzelez
3. Alejandro Morera
4. Luis De La Fuente
5. Antonio Carbajal

#3 ·
I have enough forwards in this team so Luis Hernandez and Clautemoc Blanco could not be in the squad.

Giovanni Dos Santos is seems too early to include him but I don't think there will be any better AM to be included.

#5 ·
Enrique Borja is obvious and big miss...
He had great career in Mexican national team ( 31 goals in 65 appearances ), and also three consecutive times top scorer of Mexican league in early 70s. I don't know how many goals he scored, but I always thought that he was really good striker. Second best player on this position from this country, only to Hugo Sanchez, no doubt. Prince Silver class, I think.

#6 ·
It is hard to rank Borja in the squad. His goal state seems very well but 60's was still easier to do score than late era. Errol Daniel, Horacio Casarin and Julio Cesar Dely Valdes was very famous as legend and even Carlos Hermisillo is not in this squad as well.

#9 ·
and Julio Cesar Dely Valdes was very famous as legend and even Carlos Hermisillo is not in this squad as well.
I was a fan of Dely Valdes.....surprised he only had 32 caps (but 22 goals) in his international career.

Some odd players chosen at the expense of some other big players (as already mentioned by previous posters...Blanco , Garcia Aspe etc)

PS: Claudio Suarez had 177 caps not 71

#8 ·
Looks pretty good, although I would argue that Mexico should have its own list, given the immense history of the game there and the fact that they are more often grouped with USA and Canada (at least in the past few decades) in North America, than with the Central American nations, who have their own tournaments

What a legend. :proud: I'm not old enough to have seen him play (almost though, he had quite a long career), but I can tell you in my travels in El Salvador I have seen and heard of him quite a bit and now one of the biggest stadiums of the country bears his name.

Improve on Suarez' caps. I have surely remembered him as one of the most caps of all-time but some mistake was finally happen.

Blanco was more SS. I named Dos Santos in the squad because he seems to be most talent AM in history of Central Ameirca by far.

#11 ·
Wilson Palacios or David Suazo from Honduras? Paulo Wanchope from Costa Rica? Luis Hernandez from Mexico? Felipe Baloy from Panama? Bryan Ruiz from Cost Rica, who will go down as one of the best Central American players ever. And if you are going to name Dos Santos on what he could be than why leave out Carlos Vela?

Now I know not all of these kind make it because Mexico is clearly the power house but a few of those definitely should be on it.

#12 · (Edited)
I think this could be improved. There certainly wouldn't be Figueroa or Gio dos Santos. Blanco certainly over gio dos santos and even Carlos Salcido is better and greater than FIGUEROA. Also perhaps Borgetti or Hermosillo over Valdes. I also doubt Osorio is the greatest RB although he could be a squad player.

#13 · (Edited)
I think there could be more Mexicans. Maybe some of the player in this Mexico squad could make the squad.

Goalkeepers:
Antonio CARBAJAL
Jorge CAMPOS

Defenders:
Gustavo PENA
Claudio SUÁREZ
Rafael MARQUEZ
Arturo AYALA
Ignacio AMBRIZ
Raul CARDENAS
Jesus DEL MURO

Midfielders:
Manuel NEGRETE
Alberto Garcia ASPE
Benjamin GALINDO
Ramon RAMIREZ
Salvador REYES
Miguel ESPANA
Tomas BOY
Luis FUENTE

Attackers:
Hugo SANCHEZ
Jared BORGETTI
Cuauhtemoc BLANCO
Luis HERNANDEZ
Carlos HERMOSILLO
Horacio CASARIN

Maybe Ignacio AMBRIZ for Osorio and Negrete or Aspe in squad for José Mauricio Cienfuegos. Benjamín Galindo could also be in it.

Got you mate. IMO Mexico could have there own team. Then there are enough players from Central America to have its own team. Great work though mate. It is slightly funny that people talked Giovanni Dos Santos on to the team. Heck if any new players sneaks on to the list that fast then it would have to be Chicharito (even though I am a Vela fan) but to me it is way to early for any of the 3.

Well, it's all up to interpetation, really. I'm looking at an Atlas, and Mexico is part of that thin strip situated between north and south. Looks central to me. Culturally, I'd say, off hand, that Mexico has a lot more in common with Central America than the good ol' U.S. Of course that's changing with half of Mexico sneaking across the border. :smileani:

The Goalkeeper should be Jorge Campos... I don't understand why Carbajal is better than him.

The defensive line is the ideal. But second Right-Back I think Ignacio "Nacho" Flores because Pavel Pardo is defensive midfielder. Also Ricardo Osorio.

Then Alberto García Aspe like defensive midfielder and Benjamin Galindo like central midfielder rather than Cárdenas and Yearwood.

I think is better Jesús "cabrito" Arellano than Luis de la Fuente or maybe Cuauhtemoc Blanco like ofensive midfielder-playmaker.

Finally, Cuauhtemoc Blanco should be forward rather than Morera.

I don't understand your clasification about Cuauhtemoc Blanco. He played in the strongest era (90's). He was the best player in the years: 1997, 1998, 1999 and 1st half of 2000, 2002, 2003 (with José Cardozo) and 1st half 2004, and maybe 2nd half of 2004 In fact, in 2006, before the World Cup 2006 he was better than majority of national mexican players. Finally he was the best player in 1st half 2007.

In National Team was the best player ever... in fact, México classified to World Cup 2002 thanks for him, similar situation like Zinedine Zidane to World Cup 2006.
