Who was the best header of the history?

I think it was Sándor Kocsis, but there are only references, I never saw your header.

Please comment and you agregen more videos regarding this topic.

Hi Heroearaucano:

There is no many videos about Kocsis but in this compilation you can see a bit of his technique as header

watch?v=y_TS2a1rYHo

I would include Pelé: perfect timing and jump to head always the ball with his forehead keeping his eyes opened

From the original list, i prefed Zamorano.

Now, Cisarro named two of the best contenders.

Another good names:
- Arsenio Erico (no footage, but highly rated)
- Alberto Spencer (one of the greatest headers)
- Santillana (spanish striker from the 70s)
- Joe Jordan (scottish striker from the 70s)

Oliver Bierhoff is the best header I've ever seen.

Other great headers in the history of football are:

- Sandor Kocsis
- Dixie Dean
- Arsenio Erico
- Dada Maravilha
- Alberto Spencer
- Roberto Bettega
- José Aguas
- Alan Shearer
- Heleno de Freitas
- Marco van Basten
- John Charles
- Uwe Seeler
- Nat Lofthouse
- Karl-Heinz RIedle
- Santillana
- Telmo Zarra
-John Hansen
- Tommy Lawton
- Tommy Taylor
- Darko Kovacevic
- David Trezeguet

etc

pele10brazil said Cristiano Ronaldo...
I said he's the best I've seen play.

If you want a all time top 10 without him:

1.Sandor Kocsis

"The Golden Head" commonly regarded as the greatest header in football history

2.Alberto Spencer

aclaimed by Pele himself as the best header ever

3.John Charles

the most complete header ever being a world class CF and CB

4.Uwe Seeler

One of the greatest leaps in football history , nicknamed the Golden Head

5.Oliver Bierhoff

battles with seeler for the best german in air and also arguably the best of modern era

6.Arsenio Erico

I can't find the stats right now but I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere this guy scored a phenomenal number of headers

7.Dixie Dean

Commonly regarded as one of the best headers in football history

8.Pele

Arguably the highest leaps in football history :proud:

9.Satillana

Real Madrid's best header ever :proud: (better than Morientes)

10.Valeriano Lopez

Most feared header of the 50's

Cristiano Ronaldo will definetly be high in the top when he retires. Also Ramos after this season...

Honourable Mentions:Jardel , Borgetti , Palermo , Klose , Morientes , Lawton , Nordhal , D.Marvalha , Zamorano

What happens with the two?The technique of Zamorano is evident and is in the videos, you can not refute or ignore .
Is a clean and very coordinated technique among the jump, the punch and the strength.

It bothers me that you are so biased that do not include Zamorano in the list of the 10 best headers of the story.
Zamorano by technique should be on the list of the top 5 headers in history.

In this video the technique of Zamorano is analyzed with guide.
You can not refute an image.

Tim Cahill.

The pragmatic Anglo style of football use the wingless 4-4-2 that always privileges a static attack with two strikers for header.

Cahil, Dixie Dean, John Charles, Tommy Lawton, Tommy Taylor, Alan Shearer Including Peter Crouch.

challenge top 3
1 shearer
2 hartson
3 nordahl

accuracy top 3
1 maradona
2 santillana
3 makaay

overall top 3
1 van buyten
2 peyroteo
3 spencer
What?

Zamorano is FIFA 100 and he is remembered by be one of the best headers in the history.

The Real Madrid oficial page says:
"A forward with good goal-scoring sense, his greatest virtue was his header on goal. Zamorano was not especially tall (1.79), but his powerful legs allowed him to stay in the air much longer than defenders. During his time in Spain he would score with his headers some of the MOST SPECTACULAR goals ever seen."

To me bother me that you make a deaf ear to my comments as if I'm biased because the biased are you. My task is to talk about the South American and Chilean footballers, because here the Eurocentric people only speak about the European trunks players.

Sorry if I offended you Hero but I think I'm not EURO biased. I kinda rank europeans and south americans relatively equally. I didn't ignore ur comment cause I think you are biased , I simply took it as a opionion of yours and didn't felt the need to argue or agree with it.

Bierhoff and Cahill the best I've seen. Cahill, given his lack of height, is maybe the most impressive case of aerial skill.

Exactly. After all, this thread is about heading technique and Cahill's timing and connection with the ball is brilliant. For that reason I really rate Zamorano, as he too was not a tall player but great technique at heading the ball.

Hero - I don't think the "pragmatic Anglo" style of football really bears any significance to Cahill's heading ability. Otherwise should we then extend this to say that Arsenio Erico's heading ability should be questioned in light of the fact that he played in the 30's and 40's, where marking was altogether more primitive than it is now? We're talking about a variety of players from various eras and different leagues, but essentially focusing on their technique.

Ok, my friend, estás en lo cierto, lo que pasa es que la pasión me consume, pero tienes razón.

Excuse me mate, I only ask that you forget not to Zamorano in this thread.

Cahill has a technique the best in history, his technique is certainly an individual matter and we agree.

Cahill today is the best header in the world, This was borne out in the WC. Besides of good header, he has a great coordination in the volley with the legs. He receives very good the air ball. In the area he is lethal, the proof was his goal against Holland.
