Best of luck Zizou! May you be half as good of a coach as you were a player and all will be well in Madrid! :)

Hala Zizou! Hala Madrid!

PS take special care of the Croatians in the squad and do lots of 1 on 1 coaching with Kovacic :D

Zidane was nothing without the double pivot, I hope he demands a solid DM and BTB midfielder!

France:
---------------------DESCHAMPS-----------PETIT--------------------
---------------------DESCHAMPS-----------VIEIRA--------------------
---------------------MAKELELE-----------VIEIRA--------------------

Juve:

Real Madrid (2003):

The 1998 World Cup winner and Blancos legend showed his delight in succeeding Benitez, and set his sights on silverware by the end of his first season

Zinedine Zidane has thanked Real Madrid president Florentino Perez for the opportunity to replace Rafa Benitez as coach.

The Frenchman was presented as the latest trainer of the Spanish giants by Perez, who removed Benitez from his post after less than a season.

And the former Castilla boss, who will move up to the first-team with immediate effect, expressed his delight at receiving the call.

“I want to thank the club and you, president, for giving me the chance to coach this great team,” Zidane told a press conference on Monday evening.

"Today is a very exciting day for me, even more so than when I signed as a player. I am going to give all my heart for this club."

In a short statement, Zidane added that he was determined to win a trophy in his maiden season.

“We have the best team and the best supporters in the world. I will do everything possible to win something this season," he told reporters.

“The most important thing is to be with the team tomorrow to start working."

Big words winning something, when most likely title to win in the cup is no more.

I wish him best of luck, he will surely need it. I sadly predict this will end badly, mainly will be a shame seeing fans who used to cherish him turn against him (some too quickly...)...

Best of luck, Zizou.

I wish you had a more experienced coaching staff surrounding you instead of ex-Real Madrid players given to you by the President. Not really the best way to start when your entire staff is selected by somebody else. I also fear he will be a complete Florentino puppet and do whatever his President tells him to do.

None the less, he is at least an individual that appreciates attacking football and I'm curious to see the development, if any, from players like James, Isco, and Kovacic under his guidance. While no personality will be strong enough to snap Cristiano into line, Zizou might be the one person who Sergio has to respect and will listen to. Most of the squad will like him, especially a guy like Benzema.

I'm trying to stay positive, so here's hoping to Zizou having a long reign as Real Madrid manager.

It's very hard for a coach to come in mid-season and change everything. Look how much Klopp is struggling with Liverpool. Teams needs time to adopt to new tactics and style of play.

I don't think we had many options out there other than Zidane tbh. Mourinho would never want to come back with so many players he fell with are still here.

Zidane will probably fail to win a trophy as this set of players isn't balanced and lack winning mentality. Everyone singled out Higuain as a choker but he's not the only one. It's just easier to notice when it comes to a striker. We have more players who collapse in the moment of truth.

For me the players are more to blame than Benitez. Unfortunately his horrible man management together with the most spoiled players in the world left no choice then to sack him. Sad to see Benitez' dream becoming a nightmare. I'm afraid it will end the same with Zidane.

On a more positive note Zidane will have a run of comfortable games to start with. He knows most of the players and they will be more willing to listen to him than to Rafa.

:palm::palm::palm: You couldn't have been further from the truth;how on Earth is Klopp's situation similar to Zidane's?Klopp took over a team with a squad full of overrated and overpriced mediocre players;Zidane takes over an underperforming squad full of quality players.Klopp will have a honeymoon period till the summer, due to the fact that the roster needs a major overhaul that can't be done in January but only in the summer;Zidane will have no honeymoon period, due to the fact that the roster is there and he simply needs to fix a few things so that the team starts performing on all cylinders.

Even Zidane himself today in his first few words said that he hopes to win something at the end of the season;that shows that ZZ himself realizes that this squad is full of talent and potential, therefore he cannot simply quit on this squad till the summer and say "that's not my team".The quality is there, the problem is that we underperform. Therefore,as you understand,Klopp and ZZ couldn't have been in more different situations than they currently are.

Kinda poor his first campaign, but he wasn't allowed to coach for a few months until he got his coaching license

However this year he has them playing very well, even though they are a younger less experienced team this year. I believe they are 2nd and comfortably within the playoff spots for promotion

also I believe he has them playing 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations

I expect for both of his two overrated sons to debut in primera pretty soon, meanwhile Oddegaaard is going to end up playing for Chivas USA or something!

This has Seedorf/Inzaghi with Milan written all over it. Former legends of clubs that got their first coaching gig at their clubs and failed miserably. The fans won't be patient with Zidane just because he's Zidane, although i suppose the players and Florentino are happy about this since this hiring means he's just going to be their puppet. Don't see this one ending well at all but i love Zizou and i wish him the best of luck. He's going to need it.
