All the rumours around Spain, from radio talk shows, newspapers, TV sports shows, are saying that Vicente's ankle problem is very seriuos, that he has not been the same since he injured it, not even after the operation.

I rate Vicente as high as any player in Spain, the catalyst of this team, even more than Aimar, and without him Valencias chances are just not very good.

I hope he can come back.

I'm extremely worried about his situation.. His injury story last season frustrated the hell out of us last season and it looks to be continuing this season.

I remember last season when he was back to full training in the final third of the season that he was still feeling pain his ankle and yet he was playing but no where near his level, actually ever since that injury he only played one game in his real level and that was with the NT against Lithuania IIRC.

I just think that something must be extremely wrong with our medical staff.. I mean last season we had Vicente's injury saga, Aimar's continuous injuries, Baraja and Albelda aswell.. and now at the beginning of the season Vicente and now Baraja is having the saem problem where they don't really know what's wrong with him :frustrat:

I really hope he gets rid of this darn injury soon because, like you mentioned, he's just way too important to our team!

Not to mention I was surprised that he traveled with the team, I can't imagine that flying is good for his ankle right now, all that does is increase swelling.

What I don't know is, what is the truth? Is he getting better? Why all the rumours? Weird.

You have to be careful in the world of sports. A lot of rumours are flying around and they are not always true. Woodgate's apparent "setback" last week is another example.

At the moment, nobody knows the true extent of the injury to Vicente's ankle because the swelling has to go down first before they can analyse him further. Latest tests on his ankle have confirmed ligament strain.

He will have further tests tomorrow to determine the full extent of the injury.

With the World Cup just around the corner, I am sweating on his fitness. :(

Why the hell was he playing in the Intertoto Cup anyway? :wallbang:

Let's all hope he can come back better than ever.

Great News

Dr. Marc Martens, the ankle specialist who advised Vicente to have surgery on his ankle last Winter, has just confirmed that Vicente's ligament strain has nothing to do with the injury that kept him out for most parts of last season. The pain has stopped and the swelling has also reduced, and Vicente will resume training in a few days and could even be available for the Intertoto Cup Final. :star:

He scored a hat-trick in the training session, and told the club's official website;

"I enjoyed myself during the session, as I felt better and better physically with each moment. I am confident that I will continue to improve little by little until I recover my form".
