Best candidates are: Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben, Gareth Bale. Or some other maybe ?

Who is it then ?

Good question, I associated the term with right/left attacker in a three men attack line as well as RMs and LMs. That is why I mentioned MĂĽller. If we want to talk about only the first group you also have to take out Ribery and Robben for sure from that list. And if only RMs/LMs then I guess at least Ronaldo needs to be taken out.

Edit: Obviously R & L, added that.

It is also connected with playing style, there are more and more of those fluid formations where you don't really have players anymore who exclusively operate on wings, this would be too one-dimensional for it to be effective enough. Navas is one of the few in top level who actually sticks to the wing, hence I would consider him a winger no matter what the formation is called.
If Rob's post is correct and Ronaldo was winger in period 2006-2008 then he didn't stick exclusively to the wing because that way he couldn't score 65 goals in 102 matches what he did. It means Andy Christ was wrong. If opposite, if Andy has right, then Ronaldo never was a winger and Rob was wrong.

You can't find a better winger duo than FC Bayern Munich's Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben. Goals, assists, great on the ball, both genuine match winners, dribbling penetration running behind defences, between the defensive line or cutting in onto their stronger foot, masters at one-on-one versus the opponent's fullback, lethal in both the ever-improving Bundesliga and the alleviated platform of the Champions League.

Objectively if you consider Ronaldo not to be a winger than I would say Bale would be the same (a wing-forward). Hulk and Reus wouild be 2 others very similar in playstyle that are often unmentioned

traditional winger? Navas probably, Robben is fantastic at what he does as well.

Ronaldo a winger??:howler::howler::howler::howler::howler::howler:

any person who says that Ronaldo is a winger is an incompetent.

Ronaldo is a striker most of the time a poacher striker.

Is not a great dribbler, is not great in crossing, is not a creative player is not good in defense, all qualities of the typical wing.

He is a Striker that leaves gaps all over the pitch. When he doesn't score he does nothing of note. Di Maria has to act as a winger and CM, hence why Barcelona always had the numerical advantage in the centre despite Madrid having a '3' in mf.
He feeds on others work, is not a winger, and Real Madrid will never la decima with him.
ronaldo is supposedly the best player in the world, if the people think its okay for the best player in the world to have an inflated status because he racks up goals against granada, zaragoza and osasuna meanwhile not preforming against barcelona (really the only game that matters) then i think that some people are misinformed. hes scoring over a goal a game but he scores in less than half of Real Madrid matches though its great for stats, its not great for results.

Ribery is a real winger, and is the best in world, Cr7 is overrated, a great flop in big games, and is not a winger but a striker.

Real is like Psg, Cavani plays as a winger but does not work as a winger, Maxwell covers the whole field, for Cr7 is the same.
