there are clubs in Europe which in recent years have done some shrewd business by selling their best players for a good price. they keep losing their best players but bounce back to find new stars (to sell again for profit).

who has been the best at it in your opinion?

Yeah Porto. Sevilla and Benfica do a decent job of it too considering they are not even mentioned.

In recent years I like the job Monaco have done.

They've done well with Torres, Suarez and now Sterlling.

Shakhtar should be mentioned up there, they made 158M for Douglas Costa, Fernandinho, Mkhitaryan, Willian, and Chygrynskiy in the last half decade or so which is pretty insane considering that all of them with the exception of perhaps Willian didn't really pan out at bigger clubs (doubt Costa will make much of a impact at Bayern really, squad player at best).

The answer is without doubt Porto though, they've accumulated something over 800M from sales in the last 10 years alone or close to that.

they havent though as they don't own full percentage of players they sell

What about Basel, lost Shaqiri, Xhaka, Stocker, Salah etc. still remain competitive in Europe. Not saying they're the best, but just saying they deserve mention as well.

I see they've picked up Marc Janko from Sydney :D And the Icelander Bjarnason is also an astute pick-up.

I think Breel Embolo is supposed to be pretty special.

Do they? Eriksen went for just 11 mill. Alderwiereld 6 mill.

Ajax may have best profit margin in relation to what they spent on players initially because most came through academy, but they don't get as much money as they should.

Sevilla

No mention of Udinese either
Yes, knew I was missing someone. Udinese have a factory of over 100 players they own the rights to and consistently keep pumping out talent and unlike Porto they acquire them even earlier and cheaper.
