bottom line is we got to find him a fixed position. It's nice that he's versatile but he's not a player with a Gyan status.

Would be great if he could become the holding midfielder we need (the new Schreuder ) but I'm not so sure if he has the same insight as Schreuder. Schreuder never was a player good enough for us but at NAC and RKC, he was a player who could set the lines out. In midfield we miss that. Question is how long will it take before he can become the confident leader we need in midfield? :groan:

I think he had quite a run last season in that position when Vlaar and Bahia formed our defensive duo and it was then he convinced me he's ideal for that position. He can pass his marker, has the needed speed and technique, is good at short quick passing, but can also look for the deep option (last season Castelen) and he's a fighter.

Love Hofs though, same goes for Guzie. :thumbsup:

Is this Karel Geraerts guy from Standard any good for this role btw? his name's been mentioned once or twice on Feyenoord forums

 

Hmm, hard to tell. He's very dangerous once he gets into the box and easily scores. But his other qualities are sometimes in doubt, on the other hand he IS the dynamo of Standard.
