Cihan, England have some great individuals too, but I think Turkey have gelled as a unit (since they've played competitively together longer).

This isn't a clear cut result and we shouldn't underestimate England just because of one game; they can push some of the greats when needed. (Ok diplomatic bit over )

I've been to a few England-Turkey games and would firstly love to see us break our duck and score one goal.

Please don't misundstand me here guys, as I was born in London and like the English NT; but a childhood full of sh!te from the media here after these fixtures in the past (Roast Turkey, blah, blah) has made me want to see some form of revenge.

That said; I just hope it's a good game and trouble free.

P.S. Which bast$rds decided to play this game in Sunderland??? My travelcard is only zones 1-4

 

Cihan007x, Im not sure we can beat England.
Our defence is pretty bad right now, its very slow and makes many easy mistakes, so a fast quality striker like Owen would punish us.
Also our attack isnt all that good. Yes Ilhan is very good but besides him we dont have any real quality strikers. Maybe Nihat will a great in the future but he is still wasing to many oppourtunities.
Arif and Serhat simply dont score enough goals.

IMO Turkey is better is better than England in midfield and we have a better goalkeeper, but England have a better defence and offence.
I think the two teams are very even.

i think Turkey have a better squad then england... i am not saying this becuz i am turkish but i think it is true..
for example Rustu.. is better than Seaman

emre...... no english player can be compared to him... he is the man and excellent palyer a technique no english palyer or euorpe has..
Hasan Sas... better than any english left winger.... he can also play striker or right winger.....

Ilhan Mansiz... better than any enlish striker.. he is out of form now becuz he is back from injury but when april comes he would be back again... by the way i do like Owen and think he is good but not better than Ilhan

Nihat Kahveci.... our new prospect can play striker or right wnger

Okan Buruk.. beter than Beckham i think

Alpay.. very good defender. goood as Rio ferdinand even betterthan him

Serhat.... has better future than any yuong english strikers.. and has no temper problem....

Yildray basturk... he is like Scholes but much better than him.. although i supprot Man United... basturk is excellent u guys may already heard of him before...

Turkey will beat England, they got lucky and beat Slovenia and Macedonia were unlucky to beat England. No offence but you say Scotland are crap, look at ur last 2 results.

So far England is unbeaten in 8 games vs the Turks(7 wins,1 draw) with no goals allowed, but that streak might end. I'm not looking forward to facing your team after these two matches against Slovakia and Macedonia. We need to get our act together quickly, because the Turks would have destroyed us if we were facing them yesterday. Hopefully the Turks will be arrogant and overconfident like Germany was last year when they faced us.

I agree with you about Sas, he's world class, I loved watching him play in the WC, same with Basturk.

 

Emre,Sas and Basturk would all walk into the English Side,having said that Sven will probably have some brainless plan up his sleeve like 9 men behind the ball and hope to find Owen with a 60 yard ball at some stage

Ilhan better than Owen :howler: so Owen hits 20+ a season in one of the best leagues in Europe and Internationals, and Ilhan scores 1 good goal at the World Cup and is better than him...plus Ilhan is older than Owen.

Nihat- Lots of evidence to show how hes better than any English prospect.

Buruk Okan- Better than Beckham? OK...can he get 50 yard passes on a sixpence 9/10 times and have such a reputation from free kicks we expect him to score every time?

Alpay- One good WC, so far rubbish for Aston Villa this year. Remember Phil Babb? He had a good WC then faded into obscurity, Alpay is Phil Babb MK II. Hes good, but not as good as Rio Ferdinand.

How many chances did Macedonia have? 2. England? 5 or 6, plus Owen was the victim of some awful offside decision. Im not putting Macedonia down, they deserved the draw for showing England up as the sham they are under Eriksson

this is what i think.. if u think differnetly then say so..... when u call people idiots that doesn't make Enngland better than Turkey,... their are facts..... which is that even Macdonia was controlling the midfield against England.... England do not have the technicall abillity to pass the ball around...

all i am trying to say is that England is not a major NATIONAL team liek before.... however in club football they are one of the best.....



and for Rio..... i am a Man Utd supporter and i think £30m for him is too much he is only worth around half that price, and if you have wathced the games he made so much personal errors which caused Man utd to lose points

and point about Beckham.... i really do thin kOkan is better, if u watch turkery's game closley yuo can see how hard he works and good his techincall ability is.. unliek Beckhan who's techinal ability is limited in my opion.... i can say he is the best free taker in the world with Roberto Carlos.. and he is one of hte best passrers of the game but that doesnt make him really reaaly good,,,,
i personally think Emre is then 10 better than him...
and for Ilhan he only had one start in the world cup and 2 as a sub he scored 3 goals..... and owen he had 5 full 90 minutes and he score 1 as i remember, but i do liek owen... but Ilhan is better and yuo would see... and as for owen scoreing 20 goals in the Premier.... yes he does, how do u know that Ilhan can't? i can guarenntu u he can score more...

and Basturk is 10 times better than scholes..

If Turkey's national team is anything like they're U-21 then they will win because they are a bunch of butchers....

Turkish team has better players in every position other than Owen's.
Turkish team has the hunger for success.
I was in the stadium when England beat Turkish NT 8-0 in Istanbul.
Those days are gone, but never forgotten. Most of the Turkish NT players were little kids than. But trust me they know what is expected from them.
The stiff British defence will open up like a flower in spring.
Alpay and the other lads will give Owen' some Turkish hot Bath...
