Or to be more precise, our players in the Portugal-Brazil friendly! It was a very enjoyable match to watch and the inclusion of Caneira, Hugo Viana and Miguel made it even more interesting atleast for me.

Caneira was the person I was very eager to see because I rate him as a good player who never got a fair shot with us and he didn´t let me down. He was very composed in his defending playing as a LB and supported Quaresma quite well when going forward, eventhough as right footed player, the left side isn´t his favoured one. I think we should take him back and give a better chance to show his stuff.

I´m not gonna but much effort to describe Miguel´s performance, simply because we already know what he´s capable of and secondly one word can tell how good he was, outstanding! Was always going forward without leaving spaces for dangerous counters, one of the few fullbacks in the world capable of that!

Hugo Viana came in substituting Deco for about the last 25 minutes and couldn´t quite hold the same standard a the guy he was substituted for, but still he played quite well, especially defensively (surprise) and even assisted Carvalho for the second goal. I´d really like to see him get more chances when both Baraja and Edu are out instead of having Albelda-Marchena in the midfield. This guy could still become a great player!

Also for potential replacements for Ayala, Jorge Andrade should be an option. Once again a flawless performance, if it wasn´t for his injuries he´d be considered as one of the best CB´s!

Well, Albelda was probably Spain's best player as he completely had the midfield in his pocket and his passing was spot on also. Villa was great also and was involved in setting up the Iniesta goal with a beautiful turn that left Woodgate for dead.

Morientes and Silva were disappointments though, Morientes missed an unbelievable sitter. I guess the guy really hates playing in England because that was so unlike him

Spain vs Liechtenstein

Players called up:

Carlos Marchena, David Albelda, David Silva, Angulo, JoaquĂn, David Villa.

Very happy that Joaquin is called up. He deserves it, but he should keep his mouth shut from now on.

It's crazy that Angulo is called up after his ridiculous form of late and I wonder what it'll take for Albiol to get called up?

Aragones' death?

you don't have to wait until his death. Only until his being sacked.

Maybe he don't want Valenica to dominate Spainish NT.
What position does Angulo play in NT? I can't figure out. And what about Machena? Does he still play defender in NT? If so, how could Aragones reckon Machena is qualified in that position since he hasn't been there for months and keep ignoring Ailbol?

Weird

We want the man at the Euro 2008, instead of him running around Sevilla drunk with his buddy Tony "The Clown" Doblas :pp

Angulo starts on the right wing. I understood Aragones, when he called him up before because the guy was on form but now it's like :wth: :googly:

Marchena combines brilliantly with Puyol. But I still think nurturing Albiol in the NT, until the Euros is best for Spain. I'm not sure Javi Navarro can hold up physically until then, because of his age and the type of tudious season Sevilla just had and the one they will have next season.

David Villa: “There is no Villadependencia”

By Agency EFE the 01 of June, 2007

David Villa, international forward of the Valencia, lamented the losses of Fernando Torres and Fernando Morientes by injury, congratulated to his substitutes, Soldado Robert and Luis Garci'a, and affirmed that “the three forwards” can “play a great role” in the selection, and considered that in spite of the absences of important soccer players, Raul including, not creee that is “Villadependencia”, indicated.

“I do not believe that there is dependency of me. There are very good forwards in national soccer. To me much work has cost me to be able to be being a fixed one, have been many calls that did not play. Now game and I hope not to lose the titularidad”, indicated. “It is a pain the injuries. In this case Luis and Soldado they came deserving to be in the selection but it is sad that they have had to come by the losses of companions. The three forwards who we are we pruned to play a great role and we hoped not to have more mishaps”, affirmed. “I take working long time to be able to be always in the calls of the selector and so that it has to me as a fixed one. I have in the last obtained parties to it in which I have enjoyed the titularidad always. Perhaps by work or qualities different from the rest, joy of the confidence of the trainer. I hope to both give back it to it in next parties”, declared.

Villa is one of the warned Spanish soccer players of sanction. He recognized that he does not think about it to force a card that he prevents him to play an encounter, in simpler theory before Liechtenstein. “We have not spoken nor thought about that. Both parties are very important and about those things they do not think. Hopefully we soon obtain a good result in Latvia and with Liechtenstein, that being an inferior rival will put the difficult things to us. It will not give anything to us”, concluded.
There is a lot of pressure on Villa to deliver now especially now that Morientes is injured.

Even though I think Luis Garcia and Soldado are good players, they need to get adjusted which just adds to Villa's pressure to deliver.

Good thing he has Iniesta, Silva and Joaquin to help him get goals if needed.

Flores: Spain drain has hampered Valencia

MADRID, June 1 (Reuters) - Valencia coach Quique Sanchez Flores believes his side's league campaign has suffered this season because they have overtaken Real Madrid and Barcelona as the main supplier of players for the Spanish national team.

'One of the heaviest burdens we have had to bear this season is that we have become the team that provides most players for the national side,' Sanchez Flores was quoted as saying in the Sport newspaper on Friday.

'Despite suffering a host of injuries this season this team has been the basis of the national team. It obviously shows we have good players but it makes big demands on us too.'

Valencia have supplied six players for the Spain squad for the upcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Latvia and Liechtenstein, while Barcelona have provided three and Real Madrid two.

Sanchez Flores said that midfielders David Silva and Miguel Angel Angulo had both been called up despite suffering from injuries.

'Silva couldn't play for us in the last match and Angulo has got a serious muscle strain,' he said. 'I'm worried because I could see it coming. I know they are going to push them to the limit and they might not be fit when they come back here.'

Valencia, who are assured of a place in next season's Champions League qualifiers, are in fourth place in the Primera Liga, five points behind Sevilla with two games left to play.

Marchena, Albelda, Joaquin, Angulo, Silva and Villa have been called up for Spain's upcoming friendly against Greece.

I'm glad he didn't call up Morientes, we need him the fcuker fit. But what I don't get is why he doesn't want to give Albiol a chance. I'm starting to think Raul hit on Aragones' grandaughter or something.

Good to see Angulo called up though. I'm happy he's recieving these numerous call ups, even though at times he doesn't seem to deserve it. I guess Spain lacks good, mentally stable (Navas needs a kick in the head) right wingers.
