3-1 for Dynamo, good win important to stop Shakhtar dominace of the ukrainian football.

Good header by Diakhate in the second goal,Danilo Silva best in Dynamo,Willian in Shakhtar.....

This does little to stop Shakhtar's dominance. Just like Barca, when you don't have Jadson (Iniesta), Rat (Abidal), Chygry (Puyol) you can beat them. If Shakhtar are full strength its over, one measly Super Cup doesn't change anything. I think this is the first time Dynamo beat Shakhtar in a Cup since the 2007 Super Cup, at least its something :howler: until Dynamo get a real striker they won't win the league and will have a hard time qualifying for the UCL

Btw pathetic goal from Milevsky, and Sasho too :howler:

Ha? So who else, a Ukrainian, born in or otherwise, can start for Dynamo or Shakhtar straight, through a season? He hasn't played for a different club and isn't going to fit in elsewhere. Tymoschuk and Milevsky are the most stable elements in Ukrainian NT. Others are simply too unpredictable and too often missing in action.

And is it a joke, Dynamo with Haruna and Diakhate a full squad compared to Shakhtar?? Winning a Super Cup means nothing, but winning the season-opener one-sided isn't a bad omen for the coming season. (Even though new acquisitions look all doomed. :skull:)

So Round 1 kicked of Friday and Saturday:

Vorskla 0:1 Alexandria
Illichivets 1:0 Karpaty
Kryvbas 1:0 Volyn
Tavria 3:1 Zorya

Alexandria get their first win in the top flight, despite being a man down for 30 minutes. Their GK also saved a weak PK from Vorskla's new signing Zakarluika.

Tavria looked most impressive with Nazarenko scoring a quality volley from a cross. Both he and Synder had 1 goal and 1 assist each. Idahor as always got on the scoresheet as well.

Terrible blunder from Volyn's keeper to give Kryvbas their first win in the other game. As bad a goal as you will ever see....

Dynamo vs. Metalist is the game of the Round, I will be watching that one live :D

Tavria miss eurocups last season for minutes, this year with Altman they might be fav for the 6 place even ahead of arsenal or metadon.
Vorskla will struggle a lot in eurocups this year.

hilariuos blunder by nedilko.

So sick and tired of Mazilu tormenting us every time we play. Seriously good god can we just sell him back to Romania if we don't want him? Not the first time he's taken points off us

Great game today, 3-3 barn burner. Ramos made some gambles at halftime and it rescued a point for us.

Have any of you seen Alexei Antonov play yet? He's so much better than Seleznyov its not even funny. He's much more fluid and mobile moving around, even though he has a pretty solid build himself. His hold up play is maybe even better than Seleznyov's, his heading ability on goal and 50/50 challenges is top class, and surprisingly he takes REALLY nice touches. 30 yd diagonal ball sent to the sideline and he traps it out of the air with the outside of his boot :proud:

His awareness of teammates and passing ability with either foot looks quite impressive as well. Two games is a little early to judge, but honestly he's Ukaine's best option at striker from what I've seen so far. Still want to see if he finishes good chances consistently, but everything else is there, he's a really good footballer. I'm pretty sure he's going to be Ukraine's starting striker at Euro's next summer if this is the way he plays all the time (not even talking about the goals, just his usefulness at the position is great).

He had a good season with illichivets and now had a stunning first two games with Dnipro,if he carries this form he will play for ukraine in the next friendly game.

Dnipro needs cb's realy badly.

um, go to our last season's thread and find the post when I praise Antonov. :D He even scored a nice goal in Europe for Metalist a few seasons ago. He has been on the fringes for a while, and last season got regular playing time, scored a hattrick in one game from memory, and now gets a break, at a bigger team. Good luck to him.

Was he the guy that beat Dynamo and kept Illichivets up? :D I looked into his career, had no idea he played for Metalist some in 08/09 and even played some in Europe  found a picture of him with long hair at that time lol he looked like Batistuta :howler:

No, either last year or 2 seasons ago. It wasn't a regular thing, but they even had a feature on FootballWeekend about some women ref making her debut back then. Just what the league needs with the lack of quality refs as it is. Then again anything is better then Godylyan.
Lol that's a ridiculous thing to say if you actually said you watched that episode of futbolweekend. I remember that one, she seems very professional and takes her craft seriously. Women are waaaay more observant than men are which I bet that alone puts her in the top5 linesman in the league.

Tavria look good going forward, but at the back - typical problems. Maicon with the double, and Volyn's coach, Vitaly K. on the sideline is hilarious as always. Kalininichenko scored one and set up the other from the corner for Tavria.

Now, watching the goal, the commentator said that the linesWOMAN made the right call and kept Maicon onside. So this began this season I'm assuming?

So many nice goals this Round so far, and we still have games tomorrow:

Willian and Srna, both quality finishes, Xavier another nice goal, Ideye huge debut performance; 2 goals and 1 assist. Antonov's strike can be thrown in there as well i guess, but maybe was given too much space...

So Dnipros been making all that noise in the transfer market but they are sporting a front line of Antonov, Zozylya and Hladkiy, lol. Not sure how that is any different from the previous phase of DK reject like Dmitro Myhalenko or Oleh Venhelinskiy. Hell, you have Kravechenko and Roton and actual DK rejects on top of that. And you still have those 2 bums at the back in Rysol and Cheberyachko.

Tell me again how is this team suppose to compete with DK or in Europe with that roster, 1 or 2 decent players like Matheus and Juliano is not enough. Konoplyanka looks like he hasn't improved a thing in 2 years, just a younger version of Nazaranko/Kalina.

Another year Dnipro/Metalist give fake competition to DK for the CL spot, in reality these teams are not even close.

Great game by Shaktar today, now theres a powerhouse. Karpaty hung in in the 1st half and then SD took over.

What the hell are you talking about? Venhlynskyi was AMAZING at Dnipro. He was probably the best striker in the UPL in his prime - for two seasons at least. Injuries ruined him, but he was great. Dnipro had a neat little squad with Nazarenko and co in their prime in the middle - made a deep run into Europe around the same time Venhlynskyi was scoring at will (early 2000's)

Dnipro have the squad, but I think Ramos might be the wrong man for the job. I'm not sure, but you can't be losing to Volyn at home with 30,000 supporters showing up to cheer you on - that doesnt show promising signs for Europe, or any domestic silverware. Just tactically they seem inept. Maybe it will take time to bring the squad together, early days still. Consistency is the real issue with Dnipro, Metalist are better tactically at playing 'the other' teams in the UPL, and hence logically could push the big two I figure.

Speaking of tactics, Pavlov is an absolute mastermind sometimes (like today), and then you got to love how his players enjoy playing for him as well. Just a nice team to have in the UPL, won't cause any huge upsets, but - good foundations, they actually OWN their squad as opposed to renting players, and it will be nice to see them get a kind draw in Europe.

Chornomorets look atrocious on the other hand. I closed the stream after the own goal, I just couldn't take it anymore...

Venhelinskiy was an ok UPL level player. Calling him amazing is a bit of a stretch. Yeah he was good at Dnipro but how good was Dnipro? What has Venhelinsky ever done in europe, or the national team? About as much as any other DK reject. If thats the standard Dnipro wants to keep up they aren't headed anywhere. Venhelinsky was amazing around the same time guys like Melashchenko and Vorobei were amazing.

Can somebody please explain to me how Metalist is allowed to play 2 Ukrainians in their first11 and not get a 3-0 forfeit defeat??!!!! Do we not have a 5 player minimum rule?????

Dnipro are strong as fuk, our CB's don't fit in this squad. If we had a normal CB instead of two bozo's we'd be contending for the title.

"Металлист": Дишленкович, Девич, Гуйе, Обрадович, Кристальдо (Ткачев 58), Торрес (Валяев 46), Еременко, Фининьо, Шавьер, Эдмар, Вильягра (Воробей 89)

Dislejnkovic, Devic, Edmar - the only Ukes starting :D Seriously, though, they are all legit citizens.

Does the rule have something about permanent residents or something? hahaha, I mean Obradovic, Gueye would make that 5. Both have been playing in Ukraine since 2005/06...

Yup, Fernandinho, Jadson, Hubschmann, Rat and Srna (am I missing anyone?) have been there for well over 5 years :)

Gai is actually a nice player, but at Shakhtar, who's passing system of play is probably in the top 4/5 teams in Europe in my opinion, has the role of a low-end rotation player really.
