European season starts for Ukrainian teams with this first matchup

Laçi (Albania)-Zorya Luhansk (Ukraine)...17 Jul(1st leg), 24 Jul(2nd leg)

Don't think Zorya can play at home.

Shakhtar will play in Lviv. Awesome for the people there. Putting that white elephant stadium in the middle of nowhere to use again, great to see :thumbsup:

What will happen if fans wave Bandera flags there again though? Will UEFA punish Lviv and Shakhtar both? Donetsk citizens would be so f'n pissed :howler:

#3 ·
Well there will be politic banners and chantings in this year ukr clubs home european games 100 per cent sure, howe will uefa react to it?

http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2124836.html

so wise decision by uefa,at request of ukr and rus federation no meeting between russian and ukrainian clubs this year.

after kiyv and lviv odessa and dnipropetrovsk have also green light to have european games.

let's see what will happen with Kharkiv.

zorya after 40 years returns to europe.

leading 1-0 at ht in albania.

Football aside, this ****in sucks. Whoever(s) killed all those people needs to get found out and be appropriately dealt with. I'm sincerely providing condolences for all those affected, but the Ukrainian government did not do this (that's a discussion I don't want to get into).

Now this complicates things even further from a football standpoint. It seems that after making a 'no Russian vs Ukrainian teams' decision, the ball is back in Uefa's court...worst thing that could happen for UKR football is a all team full suspension from all international competition. Would be upsetting but, it would be understandable, besides there are more important things to worry about.

Well done to Zorya, safe to say their in the next round...Can't find the highlights so if anyone can direct me to them it would be much appreciated.

#6 ·
i don't think full suspension will happen, maximum Kyiv and Lviv will stay the only places where you can have european games and uefa will ban european games in the southeast.

as for Upl Mariupol has to be considered a war zone as Luhansk and Donetsk and no games should be allowed there.....pro russian missels can arrive there.
Volyn and Chornomorets already said they will not travel to Mariupol.

as for dnipropetrovsk and kharkiv i think it is impossible for a russian pro missels from Donetsk to arrive there but i am no expert.

dnipro-kobevahn

good draw for dnipro, think the best possible alongside s.liege.

sucks that a awful situation fav Dnipro.

still without rotan and giuliano plus second leg away i see this tie as 50-50.

fedorchuk dnipro new def mid?not good.

in europa league

odessa vs rnk split or beer sheva
zorya-molde/gorica

great draw for zorya being unseeded they have a chance to qualify.

overall a good draw for the 3 ukr clubs lets see what happens.

Good to hear Dnipro got a good draw, winnable. Is Rotan leaving for sure? Why would he go to Rubin

I doubt Fedorchuk will start lol...prolly play Kankava and Polytylo in the midfield pivot, either Bruno Gama in attacking mid or play Seleznyov and Zozulya up top (most likely this option).

Zorya only has to get past that next round and they are in the group stage? Btw why doesn't Dnipro or Metalist buy Boli and Khomchenovsky?

#10 ·
I must express condolences for all those affected by the crash. Awful news.

Suspension from European games from places like Donetsk etc. is justified instead of whole country. Maybe there should be a ban on Russia in European competition.

Good that Zorya won. I can't find any highlights either.. And I would have thought Khomchenovskiy and Boli would have been snapped up by somebody now. Probably a question of when rather than if though.

#12 ·
official,Dnipropetrovsk citie banned from hold eurocup games.

so Dnipro-Kovenahvn in Kyiv.

we all knew european teams will just not travel to eastern ukraine.

Kharkiv banned for sure also and let's see what happen with Odessa.

Kyiv and Lviv to have 6 european games per week?it will be very hard to make it.

if Dnipro makes to champions league group stage Dynamo will have to play the europa league at lobanovsky stadium....oh well.
or uefa will have to make Dnipro and Dynamo schedule.
when dnipro play at home, dynamo plays away and vice versa.

well after what your fans did it might happen.

http://www.ua-football.com/ukrainian/high/53d925f6.html

don't think uefa will give dnipro a 0-3 defeat but i guess Dynamo stadium will be banned,lol....

poor dynamo.

as for the game dnipro miss zozula, kalinic is nothing.

copenhagen fav now.

Zorya-Molde 1-1

blunder by zorya keeper in the last min,as usual will all ukr teams, nothing new.

Split-Odessa 2-0,well chornomorets side had nothing to do with the team that arrive to the last 32 of EL last year, only 2 or 3 starters remaining.

good for ukraine that next year only 5 clubs play in europe because at the moment the level below the top four reminds the 90's decade..

let's see if dnipro and metalist can make the group stages.

Dnipro will be seeded for that draw though.

Markovich got his team selection wrong, but the obvious fact is that good players won't come to Ukraine at the moment for obvious reasons - no Giuliano, Rotan or Strinic, so quality from most of the players wasn't good enough either. This situation will become a familiar story for all Ukrainian teams this season you suspect.

Bartulovic should never have started. The only reason he's back is because other players have gone and they can't replace them. Otherwise he'd be at Karpaty or a Kryvbas, for whom he's good, but no Champions League player. At times I thought he was Seleznyov because of how similar the two seem to move.

Konoplyanka was much better on the left in the 2nd half than the centre. Indeed, he came really close to equalising with that shot from the left, which came just before Kobenhavn's 2nd. Good finish from their player, and also clever of his strike partner to completely block Fedetskiy from stopping him. Maybe if they started that way in the 1st half it could have been different. Mateus was way too isolated in the first half for counter attacks and Dnipro is a team accustomed to playing with physical strikers. I think he should have had Mateus on the right, Kono on the left, Seleznyov up top and then maybe Bruno Gama or another midfielder behind?

#24 ·
Team selection was definitely off, but it was always going to be tough to qualify. Dnipro are not a champions league caliber team, they are not deep, inexperienced, and just lack that edge in quality and ability to grind games out and find a win.

I feel that they will also have a difficult time in Europa league. It's really a shame that the coaching staff are extremely limited in finding new talent and new ways to motivate the team.

In fairness all our European representation are having more or less the same problems, so maybe Dnipro should just focus on the league.

#25 ·
and you guys forgot zozula who was suspended.

shakhtar and dynamo are heavy fav for the top 2.

odessa and zorya waiting a miracle today.

Football matches last 90 minutes, Kleber :)

But brilliant for Zorya! Shevchenko is a hero - a Zorya Luhansk legend now! Great for Luhansk as you say. Maybe Zorya could have scored a couple more before Molde equalised, but they were lucky to win this game. Shame they can't now play in Luhansk in front of a full stadium maybe. That reminds me, they made it through without being able to play at home

Metalurg Donetsk would have found a way to lose that game. Really miss them in Europe...

Sad to see Chornomorets fail so badly this time. One of the best European club achievements from anybody last season, sadly half that team is now gone and inadequately replaced.

#27 ·
Molde-Zorya 1-2.

and Lol Keeper zorya Shevchenko turns the hero of the tie, great performance in the second half.

defend two penalties and vernidub scores at 89 min.

zorya was realy lucky but luhansk deserves this.

Odessa-Split 0-0

poor odessa.

good overall draw, even zorya avoid inter and real sociedad.
maybe zorya can do a miracle and qualify for EL group stage.

Feyenoord's defending against Besiktas was so bad. We have no reason to be too confident against anyone.
After selling 4 first team players, we still haven't got a striker or any fit new defenders

I guess we'll play the away leg in Kiev? (with 4000 supporters in such a big stadium)

yeah, kyiv lobanovsky stadium 17.000 spec not the olympic stadium .....

politics coming to this game after the civilian airplane shotdown.

zorya comes from that separatist region....most of the dead were from holland.

Dnipro have three ex-Hajduk player and maybe by the time these games are played Milevsky will be fit :howler:

Should be easy for Dnipro, but Croatian media is being silly saying its manageable because Dnipro are much weaker than last few seasons, I don't see it

#38 ·
All that needs to be seen from Dnipro. Missed opportunities that are so blatantly obvious. Should've been leading 1-0 or 2-0 at halftime of the 1st leg. 2nd leg Konoplyanka could've put Mattheus through on goal but didn't have a clue as to pass him the ball, kept it himself and got fouled right outside the box :rollani:

Konoplyanka is 25 yrs old, he's just not at the level to be a star. Great technique and speed but leaves so much to be desired in the final third. Pathetic.

Even with Markevich's stupid lineup we still could've advanced, just lack finishing ability. Even Juliano was subpar in front of goal. No deadly finishers in attack.

Sadly those are just the few aspects missing quite a bit from his game, otherwise he'd be playing for Real Madrid or somebody now. He still almost moved to Liverpool mind you. I still really hope he gets to move to a big European club in his career. He did nearly level the tie in the 2nd half mind you, but really didn't affect the game in the no10 role much at all - not what you'd hope for when you consider his ability, but a great left winger still.

It was more of a classic Konoplyanka performance today against Karpaty. I love watching him at his best. Just brilliant to watch when he dribbles against defenders and controls the ball.

#40 ·
Exciting play but he still missed 2 chances to score today...

Fedetsky moved to CB and made way for 18 yr old Valeriy Luchkevich to play at RB. He looked sprightly and almost scored a wonderful solo goal

Really stupid what happened to us in the Champions League. It just isn't right. Hopefully we can play Hajduk at home.

#41 ·
well rotan and strinic again in the squad dnipro might take the second place again looking at Rebrov dynamo.:stoned:

matheus is out till 2015 though.

Save
#42 ·
Wtf Matheus is out for 6 months?! are you sure?

Dynamo have the advantage for 2nd place if that's true. We can possibly lose to Split now too, especially if we don't play at home.

What a f'n nightmare. I've been dreaming about this kind of success for so long and this is what we get, what a bunch of bullshit :rollani:

We better try to buy Khomchenovsky now, I don't know what the fck else options there are, we lost Matheus and are about to lose Konoplyanka. C'mon Stetsenko its not rocket science :rollani:

#47 ·
konoplyanka out till october.....

well dnipro options for the wingers are minimal now with matheus and konoplyanka out.
rotan and strinic are back though.

i just don't get why shakhtar didn't let azevedo stay at metalist till the end of august to play the EL play off.:stoned:

will dnipro and metalist make the group stage?
