The draw is on Friday, December 17 at 12:00 CET.

One of group winners and one of runners-up. The winners will be away in the round of 16 first legs on 15/16 and 22/23 February and at home in the return matches on 8/9 and 15/16 March. No team can play a club from their group or any side from the same association.

---

I have a feeling we'll draw either Inter or Milan with the latter more likely.

Possible draws:

Inter Milan
AC Milan
AS Roma
Marseille
Arsenal
Lyon

This year finishing first is not such a huge advantage (Not taking into account playing the return leg at home). I'd choose Marseille from the lot even though all those teams can be very tough.

Give me an "easy" one (there are not easy teams anymore) and I consider that Lyon is the easiest on paper, since their current form is far from good.

I prefer to avoid Arsenal and the Italians, considering their good tactical work and discipline, although it'd be nice to have our revenge with Inter.

We can beat anyone but for fun's sake here are my reasons for why i dont want the ones that i dont want :

Inter Milan: recent bad experience and a part of me believes rafa can park a bus when he needs to. (he might not be there by the the round of 16 though :D)

AC Milan: Ibra mess. everything is too soon with him and the trash talk. dont want more of it.

AS Roma: They're my second favorites after Lyon. I dont believe in ranieri. They would sit back and wait until we scored.

Marseille: noisy stadium and fans. Hard working team. i saw them give chelsea some trouble but chelsea should have had penalties.

Arsenal: i dont like facing a team we beat recently. They will try something different. then again we played the return without puyol and pique. i wouldnt mind them to be honest

Lyon: my pick. although they will bunker and i hate that. but whatever, they're on poor form

Holding grudges isn't cool you know :nono:

Moreover, 2 important factors will be different if Inter and Barca were to face eachother

1. No Mourinho (doubt you have any hateful feelings towards Benitez, or whoever will replace him)

2. No Bernabeu final this season. Be honest, if last season's final was at another venue, defeat wouldn't have mattered so much because you already won the CL in 06 and 08 anyway. You weren't desperate for a CL per se.

We're getting Real Madrid ftr, sorry to disappoint you.

I don't give a **** who we get, though I'd prefer Madrid were it a possibility.

1 No Mourinho is meaningless. Whether or not the refs were to give you the tie, again, would be another matter.

2 While I won't say I could care less that the Final was in Madrid last season, that wasn't that much motivation for me personally. I simply wanted the club I support to win the Champion's League.

Be honest, you're just an Inter troll who still can't live with the fact that you needed the refs to get you to the CL Final. Kinda ironic considering you going on about Calciopoli in the other thread.

Inter Milan: I would like this draw. The only drawback I can see is the fact that we just faced them 4 times last season, and it's getting a bit too often. However, I sincerely believe that they are awaiting a good ass-kicking. Also, would love to see Sneijder embarrassed yet again.

AC Milan: This one is more preferable because we didn't play AC for a while now. I think they are a very old team with no future, and I would be happy to see Ibra humiliated. He will eat his words. I really think we can get a good scoreline like 4-0 against them.

AS Roma: Of course, by far the easiest possible draw, so I would like this one even more. Due to their style, they are going to be the easiest one for Barca. They don't have much quality either. If they are at the level of Basel, Cluj and Panathinaikos, and all the signs point to that, I want them as my first choice.

Marseille: Hard working team as Moe pointed out. I think they will not be too tough, but away game might be tricky. They have a lot of pace, and can be dangerous at home. Still, I consider them the second easiest draw. I would have them as number 3rd in my wishlist behind Roma and AC Milan.

Arsenal: Again, due to their playing style, like Roma, they will be one of the most convenient draws for Barca. But like Inter, we played them a lot recently, and won the matches. Statistics and trends tend to break at some point, and their sprinters might just find a way to do it. I would put them my number 4 pick.

Lyon: Lyon are pretty bad right now, but no doubt will improve. Probably the most hardworking team from this bunch. Have some good quality players even if it is not going for them. Will be very difficult away game. Again, we played them recently, don't want them. Probably the least wanted along with Inter Milan, but since Inter Milan has Sneijder, and I want Barca make him cry, I would put Lyon last in my wishlist.

1. AS Roma
2. AC Milan
3. Marseille
4. Arsenal
5. Inter Milan
6. Lyon

In conclusion, I will not be disappointed with any draw, because of the reasons above. But at least 4 of these teams are very much suited to Barca's style and will find it extra hard against us.

It's gonna be Arsenal. UEFA love a rematch.

Yes you can, they're from Spain and you're from Catalunya.

Funny how you didn't comment on Merk. ;)

Look, Milito scores 1 offside goal and you guys bitch and nag.

Now imagine if Milito had scored 3 or 4 offside goals in the same match?

Yeah.

because Chelsea were denied as many penalties in 1 match, surely a record that even Moggi's juve wouldn't be able to achieve.

i honestly dont know who Merk is :D .. do remind me bec my team is so awesome i tend to focus on the magic of my players and not memorize ref names.

all penalty "claims" came after an unjust red card. That seals it all really and i'm free to assume that without that red card we'd be 5-0 up at half time. Just like you assume chelsea would have scored from the PK spot.

The only valid one is pique's handball. and judging by the cowardly chelsea display i think they would have missed anyways ;)

Merk and Ovrebo are world famous match officials, especially Ovrebo, albeit for the wrong reasons.

I'm pretty sick of the Inter fans on XT. If drawing Inter and beating them means we'll hear less from their fans then I'm all for it, but if it means we'll just get more trolling and whinging then I'd rather avoid drawing them.

An even better link

No contact whatsoever, unless air counts as contact. May be Sheva was breathing heavily.

yeah so,would it have put Milan through,no.

They would have been level and the game would have gone into extra-time.The same game also had Billy Costacurta being the last man and tackling Etoo, which is a clear Red in any circumstances. That would have changed the scenario for a whole half in favour of Barca and with Etoo's pace we would have easily exploited it.

compared to this,Chelsea's Phantom goal with Ricardo Carvalho's shirt pull or slow Terry's crazy antics on Messi, there have been many many things going against Barca but Milan always cry foul when they also have won 2 CLs in this decade.

Indeed refs make mistakes, so perhaps Barca fans should stop acting like victims. Mistakes have happened for and against you.

What percentages??

Sours grapes based on what exactly, you didn't beat us and we ended up with the treble. And I couldn't care less about Chelsea (and less so Milan, obviously), but I'm merely mentioning instances of refereeing decisions which helped you, as a reminder.

My point all along was that Barca have had calls for and against, which still stands.

I never implied that Puyol is a cheat, but at the end of the day he slipped so there was no foul. Puyol is awesome ftr, cool player.

The alleged Zanetti push on Dani Alves sounds like something you pulled out of your ass tbh, don't remember anything like it. I just remember Dani Alves getting owned by Pandev a couple of times and his dive to win a penalty in the 2nd half.

Btw if you think Inter played rough/dirty then perhaps ballet is the more suitable sport for you to follow. There were hardly any bad challenges in 180 minutes. And some nerve you have to whine about fair play when you have the Peekaboo dude and someone like Dani Alves, tbh. Hypocrisy much?
