FC Barcelona vs. AC Milan
September 13, 2011
Camp Nou
20:45 CET
After the poor result received in Basque Country, Barcelona turn their focus to the first match of their UEFA Champions League campaign which starts at home to Italian champions AC Milan. Barca are the current holders after winning the prestigious competition last season in the final at Wembley, but now the road to Allianz Arena starts with one of the toughest games they could have gotten to open their title defence.
Captain Carles Puyol is expected to finally make his return to the pitch after being declared fully fit for the first time in nearly eight months, while Gerard Pique may also return for Barcelona for this game. Alexis Sanchez is out though due to the tear he picked up in his hamstring on Saturday evening.
AC Milan have nearly their full squad available for this match so there will be a host of choices to pick from for the Rossoneri tactician Massimilliano Allegri, including former Barcelona players Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gianluca Zambrotta, and Mark van Bommel.
As far as lineups go, most of it should be easy to predict for FCB, but here is one that I would go with for this match -
Bench: Pinto, Pique, Adriano, Keita, Fabregas, Thiago, Afellay
