We have always come close, but I feel this is the year when it all comes together and we win it all, and this line up just looks unstoppable!!!

#4 ·
Only two strikers? :rollani:

I'm not very optimistic, Italy always seem to have awesome youth squads so I expect a loss there. To make things worse, I'm guessing neither Czech Republic or England are exactly walks in the park. If we get out of this group, it would be a fantastic result.

These days Serbian football is really missing some true strikers, both the U21 team and the Senior team are really feeling the affect of this problem.

#6 ·
We've got a talented team as always, but I've got to agree with RSF on the point where we miss strikers.

Our defence is pretty solid while our midfield is one of the greatest in the championship. I believe Italy has the best squad overall when it comes to players on each position, so many great young players so I'll hold them as favourites to win our group.

It wouldn't surprise me if we made it through though, it's going to be very tough against England and Czech Republic aswell. I only hope for the best as we've got a good young squad with players who's playing outside Serbia nicely mixed up with others who play in the domestic league. Some of them has played bigger games and knows what it takes.

Well Sky Sports will be taking all of our games here in the UK.

I haven't heard from Mrdja in months, since he got into trouble with his club he had some attitude problems.....

Returning heroes boost Serbia
Tuesday 5 June 2007
by Aleksandar Bosković
from Belgrade

Serbia's quartet of senior internationals have arrived at the Under-21 training camp in Novi Sad and coach Miroslav Djukić believes their experience will be a major boon at the fast approaching UEFA European U21 Championship.

Rukavina debut
Miloš Krasić, Boško Janković and Antonio Rukavina all featured in Serbia's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier in Finland on Saturday, with RCD Mallorca midfielder Janković opening the scoring and FK Partizan right-back Rukavina making his full debut in the 2-0 win. It was a performance that drew admiring glances back home, not least from the watching Djukić. "I am delighted with how they played and I am really satisfied with their form," he said. "Those players, together with Branislav Ivanović, Dušan Basta and Dejan Milovanović, are the most experienced in our squad and their form is very important to the team."

Tactical practice
Midfielder Stefan Babović might also have featured on that list but was ruled out of the Finland game with a stomach problem, from which he has since recovered. He is unlikely, however, to be available when Serbia play a warm-up match against club side FK Novi Sad on Wednesday. "I want to see what the players can do from a tactical point of view," Djukić said. "That is what we want to take from the match, so I will give them all a chance and I think they will be up for it." Serbia get their finals campaign under way against Group B rivals Italy in Nijmegen on Monday.

Well, if he's talking about how Basta and Milovanovic are really important players, than you have to think they will start.
I'd rather have something like this:

---------------KAHRIMAN---------------
RUKAVINA-IVANOVIC-TOSIC-KOLAROV
-------MILOVANOVIC-SMILJANIC-------
JANKOVIC------BABOVIC------KRASIC
----------------RAKIC----------------

How can you play Jankovic as a lone striker? Id understand if he was playing off of someone but like that?

#18 ·
Djukic has to put the team that got him there, the one that beat Sweden 5-0......
--------------Kahriman-------------
Rukavina---Ivanovic---Tosic---Kolarov
-------Smiljanić-----Milovanovic------
Jankovic----------------------Krasic
--------------Babovic----------------

England destroyed Slovakia 5-0 today and are really confident about getting past the group stages in the european championships.

Heres the England squad for the european championships and compared to ours its poor, theres only about four players that start for their clubs and all of them were battling for relegation this season. I think that we should control this game as our midfield is 10 times stronger than theirs and should win quite comfortabley.

Goal Keepers

1 Scott Carson
13 Joe Hart
22 Ben Alnwick

Defenders

2 Justin Hoyte
3 Leighton Baines
4 Steven Taylor
5 Anton Ferdinand
6 Gary Cahill
14 Liam Rosenior
20 Nedum Onuoha
23 Peter Whittingham

Midfielders

7 Nigel Reo-Coker
8 David Bentley
9 Kieran Richardson
12 Wayne Routledge
15 James Milner
17 Tom Huddlestone
18 Mark Noble

Forwards

10 David Nugent
11 Ashley Young
16 Leroy Lita
19 Matthew Derbyshire
21 James Vaughan

No matter how many times we get burned, we still believe we are among the best in Europe. :howler: I love the optimism. :D

#23 ·
Well if England can think that there going to win every tournament they enter with an average team why cant we think that were going to win it with a good team?

heheh good quote :D

2004 we did good, but the last game we had that early red card, which didnt help.
2006 we were down to 1 striker, and Purovic was out of form at that time.
2007 - I still think that last yr team was better, but u can still hope. And you cannot deny that we have a good team

Similar preparation (or lack thereof) that we saw in the lead up to Germany last year when everyone except SCG was playing stackloads of friendlies. Yesterday England had a friendly against Slovakia but of course the Orlici are "preparing" in Novi Sad ie. visiting their families, stuffing their faces in the off season and enjoying the nightlife. Not optimistic at all.

Well most of our under 21 team have played all season and deserve a small break to recover from a long season, whereas Englands under 21 players havnt even played that many games this year so they can afford to arrange friendlies.
