Similarly to what happens with the Spanish clubs, four clubs will take part in it with two semifinals which will include the first two classified of serie A and the two finalists of the Italian Cup.
There is also an agreement with Saudi Arabia for hosting four of the next six editions (two in SA, then two ?, and then two in SA again).

Hopefully Cremonese makes it by reaching the final of the Italian Cup lol.

If say juve reach Coppa final and finish 2nd, I guess that means 3rd place in the league makes the Supercoppa? As there's no such thing as '3rd place' in Coppa Italia.

Anyhow nowadays everyone is thinking of expanding to have more matches and more $

It's also good marketing for the league. Italian football is pretty popular in the Middle East.

But hypothetically speaking, not necessarily the next edition: a Supercoppa having the Milan clubs, juve and a Rome club would be worth more to win than a one off game I guess.

It would indeed be nice if Cremonese reach the Coppa final and get to play Supercoppa. They might be in Serie B by then so it would be a nice financial boost and also good for the club from a sporting perspective. I think Fiorentina will be too good for them though.

Please tell me that they at least plan to return to the old ways and schedule it in pre-season again. 🙏

Two games mid-season is too much of a distraction. Almost as bad as the CWC or whatever it's called.

Mixed feelings/thoughts tbh. On one hand, if 4 decent Italian sides are in it, it would be worth more to win than a one off match between just 2 teams. On the other hand, a Super Cup should be a game between 2 teams that actually won something the previous season.

Well the truth is that oftentimes the champion of last year sucks the next year, so have more teams in the mini tourney increases the chances of having two currently good teams playing against each other. And btw Nera, how about getting non-Italian refs for this tourney? It might make it mean something more to me in that case. Hell, I would take the refs from the Middle East...

Italians consider getting foreign refs an insult to Italian refs, I believe.

ToniStamp, my greatest compliments on your above mentioned .gif of the fat man rubbing his fingers, where the heck did you find this absolute gem my good man, it's boffo, it's revelatory truth about him, it's lip-quivering awesome, it's absolute witty and original like Donald Duck with bona fide taste, in shortphrase it kicks total, I love it man. :)

He was a well known (in Italy) Italian youtuber. Unfortunately he passed away but the gifs of him remain. I think that that gif describes pretty well the pain/irrritation I feel at competitions of champions being transformed in competitions which include losers (the former Champions Cup being the biggest example) in the name of the money.

The last Supercoppa was so 1 sided we would have won it even with Pioli as ref, though
