Sweden vs. Denmark

The last group stage game for both teams and it looks like they will settle for a high-scoring draw. Although Denmark could crash out if the game is tied, I think it's pretty unlikely. Italy will only get one ponit from Bulgaria and Denmark and Sweden will go through.

But that's only my opinion.

It's probably gonna be a tough game with Denmark dominating (Denmark must win if Italy win) and a defensive Sweden.

Tobias Linderoth won't play due to two yellow cards and we can expect some changes in the swedish team;

Isaksson

Mellberg
Mjällby
Edman
Nilsson

Jakobsson
Svensson
Ljungberg
Willhelmsson

Larsson
Ibrahimovic

Mjällby taking the central defence and Jakobsson replacing Linderoth. Maybe the other way around....

Willhelmsson and Nilsson are also uncertain since none of them had a good game yesterday. Jonson are knocking on the door.

No, 2-2 is enough for Denmark, then Italy is out, even if they win 100 - 0 against Bulgaria....

also I'm quite sure Denmark would dominate the game even if Sweden needed the win, since Denmark along with France and Spain are the best team at passing the ball around (see link)...

It's funny to see all Italy fans going stupid during this championship. Rigged?Geez, just because Serie A and B are the most corrupt leauges in Europe....

Btw, can someone make this a poll?

I realy hope, you won't be forced to eat your words after some comical 2:2 or 3:3. ;)

Personally, I don't think it will be a fixed game and I hope that Denmark will win it.

i find it painful should Italy qualify for the knock-out stage instead of Denmark or Sweden. Both these 2 countries played better football and scored more and better goals in this tournament than the pathetic looking Italian team. Bunch of good players, but over confident, and headed by a stupid coach who does not take enough sensitivity into the egos of his players.

How is the relationship between the two countries, is it rather rivalry or would they help eachother to eliminate Italy ?
I don't believe the rivalry is as harsh as the Danish-Norwegian one has tourned out to be the last couple of years - with the qualification-matches and all.

Not that Sweden and Denmark probably will, but I do believe they could decide to help each other out.

Swedes in general like Denmark. It's Norway we can't stand. :D

That sure would be something if this game ended in a 3-3 draw :pp

Though if one team has to win I would more likely think it be Sweden who have seemed to be the better side (atleast to me) in the tournament...

If Larsson and Ibrahimovic can get going early then it will be a tough game for the Danes.

Bulgaria were the better team against Sweden for 60 minutes. Only their defensive collapses resulted in such a good win for Sweden. Sweden had no idea against Italy. To say Sweden deserve to progress is an idotic statement.

Call me idiotic but Sweden deserves to go to the quarter finals just as much as Denmark or Italy.

Hope for Sweden and Italy to progress. Used to be in more support of the danes rather than the swedes. But after the danes started to call us norwegians mountain-monkeys.. they can go screw themselfs! :D And mountain-monkeys they can be themselfs.. if they just had some mountains. :rollani:

Ever heard of miss-Denmark? She has no hips and no breasts! Just like their country!!! :p :p :p ;)

There'll only be one major discussion point ahead of this game, rigged or not.]

Denmark have the better side anyway and would probably win.
The game is not phucking rigged. We're not italians after all. I try my hardest to defend Italy and italians because the general image of italians here are not positive at all. Even my dad more or less hates Italy.

But when they question our national team they judge others by their own standards and I really don't like that. Our national coaches are the last people on earth who would set up a game. At the world cup two years ago a hidden microphone caught the two of them discussing who to sub. The main criteria was not to win the game but to not mentally destroy a player by taking him off. I think they are more or less crazy, especially Söderberg, but in one way they are refreshing. For them it's not only about winning. It really isn't. For me it is, but not for them.

in an ideal world everybody plays to win. but in this case, if a draw suits both of them i can see them playing for it, and theres nothing wrong with that. its the last group stage game but not the last game of the tournament! they have to think about their own players and preparing for the next round.

but that being said i dont think theyll go for a draw. the way bulgaria have broken down in defence, its normal to assume that theyll be worried that we can score 3 on bulgaria.

Yeah, I remember that. They really make a crazy duo. Söderberg the excentric and goofy one while Lagerback is more laidback.

By the way, Söderberg was furious with some of the Italian journalists who repeatetly asked Söderberg and Lagerback if Sweden and denmark would play for a 2-2 draw.

-" No!. We won't make a deal with denmark!", and then slammed his fist to the table. :strong:
Then he thumped his hand on his chest :D and started preaching:
-"Football isn't about winning, it's about playing good football and then be proud of your contribution. It's about passion and pride."

In Italy Söderberg would probably be locked up at some mental institution... :D

I think any result is possible in this one. Neither team can afford to lose, and whoever get's the opening goal will find lots of room on the break. Something both sides excel at. But that's the only way we'll see either side winning by a margin- by being efficient when exploiting the tactical oppportunities given by the other team having to gamble.

In terms of quality I think we're so close, although so different, that it's going to be a tight, but also potentially enjoyable game for the neutrals. For most us Danes/Swedes.. I suspect it might be hell tough :).

The thing that inspires a bit of confidence in me is that coaches have so far been SO important, and I think we have one of the very best in the competition.

Probably :D But that's because they're so tense when it comes to football. They need to lighten up. They need a change. Frankly, what they need is the superduo of LarsTommy :excited:

Italian journalist: Mr Soderberg, excuse my ignorance but how come you're so happy with a loss in the World Cup final against England?

Fantastiskt helt enkelt!

Lars Lagerbäck: Err, Tommy, you have to take it in English....

:howler:

I'll mirror Glen in saying this is a hardpredicted game that can go anyway. One thing I do believe is that Denmark will begin the game much better and that we will have the second half. Denmark have began all matches in a great way while Sweden have been slowstarters.

Won't the Danish thank us for handing them the Bulgaria game on a silver plate? ;)

I would say that we have two of the best coaches in this tournament.... since we now also have former Juventus assistant coach Jens Bangsbo....

I suspect Bangsbo is the guy behind the surprising transformation of the Danish defence, from what used to be a bit shaky, to the rock-solid defence we have seen at this tournament so far...
