According to a report in L’Equipe, French youngster Sofiane Feghouli, who currently plies his trade with Grenoble, is set for a summer move to Valencia. He could join on a free transfer this summer as his Grenoble contract is set to expire in June.
Since January 1, Feghouli has been free to talk to clubs, and the director general of Ligue 1’s bottom side, Pierre Wantiez, confirmed that the 20-year-old will move west next summer, explaining: “He has even been signed in Spain.”
Despite the director general's words, Feghouli has also been linked with Manchester City.
Once touted as ‘the next Zidane’, Feghouli’s star has not continued on the ascent it seemed set for. Though recognised as one of the league’s most promising players in some quarters last term, critics have questioned his lack of offensive production, with the youngster still waiting on his first goal at the top level.
His progress has also been severely hampered by injury. A right knee problem prematurely ended his 2008-09 campaign and he has struggled to turn out at all this season because of the same problem. Indeed, he has not featured since the first weekend in October.
GF38 have endured a miserable season without one of their key components, boasting only seven points and 11 goals after 20 rounds of action.
