Big match in the scudetto race and just in general next weekend as we face Lazio. I know the Valencia match comes first, but I thought Id get this thread ready for the huge match in prospect. Lazio also seem good this season and in particular they were unlucky nott o draw at Fiorentina on the weekend. However I am confident that we can get the 3 points in this one. FORZA ROMA!

While some of the anger in this derby has eroded, there is no doubt that the Roman derby is one of the fiercest affairs in Italy. Just a few years ago, the derby brought together some of the greatest players in the world. Then both clubs, especially Lazio, kind of declined, which produced some unworthy derbies, including the one that stopped after the half. :yuck:
Now, the quality has returned, which is why I think we can expect a really good match Sunday.
Hate to speak well of the adversary, but Lazio looked quite good in their defeat at Fiorentina. Ledesma is finally showing his promise and coordinating the midfield, and Pandev can shock opposing clubs. But our quality has to shine.
But like you say, Deano, first things first. We must advance in the CL.

Now we are ready for this game... a win tonight without too much energy spent from our players. With Perrotta, Pizarro and Totti all more or less rested and should be back for this derby... I say bring it on!

Ah what a beautiful video! But something tells me we aren't going to win this match. Everything points to a Roma win and lazio has been playing well all season without much notice. Add Totti's ankle problem and I just see us ending in a draw.

I'm hoping for a win as we need to come up with 4 pts the next 2 games between lazio and Palermo. I won't be greedy enough to ask for 2 wins.

I see we have the weeky pessimistic point of view from R10 also in this thread :D

I have a good feeling for this one, I believe our players will be up for it... a draw is possible, but I think this will be a quality match. Lazio are quite strong once more, but we are stronger. FORZA ROMA!

Totti or not, it's time to step up again. Who could ever forget beating them 2-0 without Il Cap for the 11th win in a row earlier this year?
It just feels too good. The club is so united in its purpose. With that attitude, we can't go wrong. Forza forever! Romanisti in Arms  :proud:

That was a special derby, never to be repeated, but perhaps we can do the scoreline again?!
I have a funny story from that match. I invited a security guard where I work named Bruno to my house for the match. I knew Bruno was Laziale through and through, but I had not informed him of my allegiances. He was an alright guy, though, and we'd often chat about calcio as I came and went. Suddenly, I found myself inviting him over for the match. Hey, there's not a lot of commited calcio fans here, so you gotta connect where you can.
Anyway, he came over, and being a proper older gentleman, he even brought some food of some kind, I don't remember what. Any how, the match started, and it was an incredible thing. I had never seen a Lazio fan sink before me, and he was taking each goal with more and more emotion, sadness, actually. By the fourth devastating goal, he was virtually in tears. I could no longer hide my joy. I started showing the disbelief before me. Five goals against Lazio? He became suspicious and even more upset. After Totti's chip, I exploded in ecstacy. He left and our friendship was never the same.
