OK, now we play Maritimo, and can not possibly lose the chance of winning this one and aim at the 2nd place, after Sporting's defeat !

It won´t be easy of coz, as the Madeira team is fighting not to get relegated, but then again we have been all so irregular this season

the game will take place tomorrow at 18.30 in Luz, and will be broadcasted by TVI

these are the players called by koe-man ( karyaka mysteriously disapeared to give place to joão coimbra, andersson is suspended and nuno gomes still injured)

G: Quim , Moretto

Defenders: Luisão, Léo, Nélson , Ricardo Rocha

Midfield: Petit, Karagounis, Manuel Fernandes, Beto, Manduca, Robert , João Coimbra

Forwards: Mantorras, Geovanni, Marcel, Simão , Miccoli

my starting line-up:

Code:
                    Quim

Nélson Luisão Ricardo Leó

      Petit Manuel Fernandes

Manduca Karagounis Simão

               Miccoli

Geovanni and Mantorras as back ups to spice things up in the 2nd half if necessary....as im not counting much on robert to do it, and even less, wayyyy less on Marcel

FORÇA BENFICA!!!! :star: :star: :star:

lol im glad im not the only one wondering:D :howler:

no idea, for sure a junior...maybe o benfiquista knows, or gein, they both seem more updated with the youth team....

Well i never like him but good luck to him anyway....

Btw,Inacio dont you think that Marcel could play tomorow as a starter? :undecide:

#7 ·
NO! :wallbang:

shall i do the balloon test on u ?!?:D

we can´t afford to not win the game tomorrow :D

now that we are out of any other competition, we have no reason whatsoever to be "resting" players, so we got to play our best cards !

IF we are winning 3-0 at HT...then i dont mind to sub in Marcel for the 2nd half :D

Ok,lets stop with this BS,i dont want to become a new MF! :howler:

Btw,we need realy to stay in the first two places......i realy dont want to go to the qualifying round of the Cl....the portuguese clubs record is miserable....also we could face good teams there. :scared:

#15 ·
whos MF? the former player and current coach, whos apparently becoming senile ?:D

yes, 2nd place is much better than 3rd, coz those qualifying games make us start playing a bit too early in the season....although this year we have improved our record and might get paired up with a more accessible team, but nevertheless its something to be avoided if possible

however, as things stand, and even if 5 pts on top of braga do look comfy....given our record this year.....im not even relaxed when it to comes to being sure that we can keep our 3rd spot:D

At this point, I'm more concentrated at securing that second spot. Porto have a strong hold on that first position now despite losing to us twice this season  . Is it possible for us to go on and win the league? Yes, however, it's a lot more realistic to go out and get second. Atleast with that, we can secure a Champions League spot. If we secure the second spot than I can say our season was a success. We could then reload in the off-season and buy some new players with the money we made off of the Champions League and League and come out stronger next season. We did alright considering we had a bone-head of a manager.

Anyway, I see us taking this match 2-0 with goals from Geovanni and Luisao.

João Coimbra his one of our most talented youth players. He's been playing in the B team, and he is what you usually call a box-to-box midfielder. Very strong (1.83m; 82kg) but tecnically good aswell.

Out of curiosity, in the NT youth teams, João Moutinho was his sub. :D

I hope that tomorrows game goes well for us, so that Coimbra can get as much playing time as possible.

One more thing. With only 4 defenders available, and one of them being Nélson witch is expecting surgery, it would be a good move to call a defender from our youth team. Players like the argentinean Pablo (CB) or the portuguese Miguel Lopes (RB) or Tiago Gomes (LB) would be good choices, I think.

The slovenian Gregor Balazic from the u-19 team also show great promise.

thanks gein :)

yes, we definetly should have called a 5th defender :rollani:

and that joão coimbra sounds ok...lets hope we can make a seriously GOOD 1st half, and then maybe we can try him

What we need isto win it,and end of the story!

We need to put pressure on Sporting, btw now Filipe is calling Benfica, the dream team of colombo shopping..... :finger: :howler:

#25 ·
he's still with the "hangover" from last night :howler:

if only we could have a share of the $ that goes into that shopping center....:hopefull:

he also made us the favour of posting the games to come:D

which im taking the liberty of pasting here :D

benfica:Marítimo (home), Boavista (away), Nacional (away), V.Setúbal (home) and P.Ferreira (away).

sporting:Estrela da Amadora (away), Naval (home), Rio Ave (away) and Braga (home)

imo, our toughest games will be tonights and the last one, as we are talking about teams fighitng not to get relegated...the rest, even though better teams, have their positions pretty much stable and secured

sporting on the other hand, has 3 "aflitos" to play, and braga who...well by the time they play them, they may have nothing to fight for (3rd place) ...i wish they would meet them before

you are taking too many liberties lately but this time you are forgiven

anyway I'm not so sure that playing the "aflitos" is such a highly difficult task for us having in mind our results against those teams in the last matches we've played against them: Académica (3-0 away), Gil Vicente (2-0 home), V.Guimarães (1-0 away).
