Hopefully the thread lasts longer this year, with FCSB in the groups if nothing else.

FCSB will take part in the UCL qualification, starting in Q1

Corvinul got the European license today:

CFR confirmed in UECL Q2

Craiova and U Cluj fighting for the other UECL spot on Sunday.

Corvinul could still be seeded in EL Q1.

But, Zimbru would have to win the Moldovan Cup, Zira the Azeri Cup (or if not, at least Neftchi Baku can't end 2nd in the league), and Llapi has to finish 2nd in the Kosovo League.

In that case, their opponents could be:

Llapi, Zimbru, Zira (or less possibly Sabah or Sumqayit), Botev Plovdiv, Ruzomberok or a Slovenian team (Nova Gorica, L2 or Rogaska, 8/10 in L1).

None of those would be unbeatable for someone who can beat an average L1 team.

More likely, the opponents can be:

Tobol, Wisla, Pafos, Sheriff, Neftchi and Drita. Possibly Paksi and Elfsborg, depending on how many of the favorites reach EL.

Corvinul's opponent for the qualifying round will come from this batch:
  • Sheriff Tiraspol (Moldova)
  • NK Maribor (Slovenia)
  • Tobol Kustanai (Kazakhstan)
  • Wisla Krakow (Poland)
  • Paphos FC (Cyprus)
  • Paksi FC (Hungary)
Maybe Elon Musk will buy this club and free them from the public money issue.
Let's see if Elon comes through

And today they announced Ubbink (ex-UTA).
Let's see what all those Nigerians can offer.

Yes! Good News might be the answer for Romanian footie.

Corvinul Hunedoara will play FCSB in some pre-season cup match in July, correct? When is that scheduled?

I was successful yesterday in finding my Argentinian team's match (Rosario Central) on pirate TV, and the Brazil-USA match, so am expecting the chance to see Corvinul as they start off on their Great European Adventure! And to see GoodNews.

Virtus - FCSB it is
San Marino's AC Virtus has a market value of €1.04m. Who knows: their striker might be worth €1m and the rest of the squad €0.04m? Mostly Italians in their squad.

First legs to be played July 9-10, and second legs July 16-17. Cool. Gives us some July footie to look forward to.

It's fine, it's a solid club. They won't be knocking on the doors of any group stages anytime soon but their coach is quality and the team has been together for a long time. Solid is an appropriate word for them. They like to have more of the ball if possible and attack a lot.

Virtus San Marino - FCSB today.

FCSB will be without five players: Chiricheș and Ștefănescu are both suspended; Musi (minor injury); Popescu and Pantea (injured list).

Likely lineup:
Târnovanu
Antwi, Ngezana, Dawa, Radunović
Șut, Edjouma (or Alhassan)
Băluță, Olaru, Phelipe
Miculescu

1-7 FT... they got scored on, the absolute madmen
Yeah, that was a training match until 86' when Virtus pulled one back giving them a slight chance for the return leg. :ROFLMAO:

Olaru with 3 goals and an assist; Popa and Miculescu with a pair of goals each. Which begs the question: Why was the Romanian champion put in the first qualifying round against a minnow of Europe? I will have to research that.

Also glad to see that Spain won in regular time. I did have two screens going so watched both matches.

Brazil Germany vibes...FCSB might win this whole thing then.

@Teak_ my guess: Cyprus has around 3-4 clubs which are sometimes pretty decent/good in Europe probably due to some shady businessmen who control those clubs and can afford to buy 2nd and 3rd class foreigners who they can attract due to their higher financial possibilities compared to let's say hungarian and romanian clubs. There were times were Romania was like 7th in Europe and it made kinda no sense either...summary: cyprus league is bad but still better than Liga I due to a few somewhat "successful" clubs whereas we have troubles to get even 1 club past qualification rounds because we fail against powerhouses like Stavanger (who completely destroyed us last time) or some obscure club you never heard of.

Perhaps FCSB can break that streak of bad luck this season. It sure won't be Corvinul Hunedoara.
