Sporting lost one the symbols of our rich history. João Pedro Morais. The man that gave us what is until now our only European football trophy, the 1963/64 Cup Winners' Cup, through that superb goal scored directly from the corner spot, the famous "cantinho do Morais", which would stay forever in the history of our club and of Portuguese football.
Morais played 255 matches for Sporting in 11 seasons at the club and scored 66 goals. He played for Portugal's National Team 10 times and beat Hungary (3-1), Brazil (3-1) and North Korea (5-3) at the World Cup in 1966.
