but i just can't see the Greeks puling it off. Experience and overall class will see France though i think. i think Spain , not Greece deserve to be in the QF. good luck to Greece tho.

You know,the excactly same thing was told by the Russian coach and a player in the press conference after the game,i think Russia is big and proud enough not to ass kissng other nations and especially show mean and complex against smaller ones,cause that's excactly what your team officialy showed

Greece will still be greeted as heros even if they don't make it through France.. so a lot of it will depend on the level of motivation of these two sides. My take is that France will nip it.. just.

 

France will win in my opinion, that being said, I think Greece will push them hard.

 

We 'll give it a try! France are better, but if we run in every inch of the pitch we may confuse them! And we must score at least 1 up front, that's for sure!
I would like us to go through in the penalty shootout, with Nikopolidis stopping the choker's last penalty!

 

I can't see anything other then a French win... Pound for pound, there simply is no competition.

 

If we can keep the French at 0 goals in the first half, I like our chances, but if we let in an early goal it will be very very hard for us after that...almost impossible.

i don't think it matters a lot who scores first
in the group stage we've been in trouble in both case.
even if we score first we can still concede 1 or more goals (croatia, swiss)
and if greece scores the first goal we can still come back as we did against england, even against a 10 men-defence.
so it's really hard to say what will happen in that match

If Silvestre starts then that is a strong possibility, but Greece's defence won't be able to contain Henry, Trezeguet, Pires, Zidane, etc for 90 minutes.

I think that Greece must have a very, very good and effective game in order to get something from this match. I'd say the odds are 80%-20% for the French.

Still, I'm happy we have come so far and I want us to put one last and respectable fight.

Yup, if Greece can remain organised and defensive(regardless of however boring it's considered), then they have a chance. Of course France are the favourites but it'll be a tough game for them and if Greece can make one break count, well, they have every chance in the world.

If Spain played better than us in the group stage then they would be in the quarters and not us. But we are in because we played a smart game with a smart coach and no one can take this away from us. If you make the quarters you make it cause you were better than your opposition. Spain has themselfs to blame.

For some people searching the goal more instead of defending in 90% of the game is playing better football (which Greece did, with competence, true, but when they had to go for the result, they couldn't beat Russia's second team).

It's good to see some surprises and Greece is indeed an efficient team. But most football fans would be liars if they said they wouldn't be more anxious towards Friday if there was a Spain - France game scheduled.

I can't see Greece going through, they didn't do anything special really in this tournament even though finishing above Spain.

Greece won a scared Portugal which was under pressure, against Spain they didn't do anything, Spain dominated them. Russia which Portugal ran over and Spain won without needing trouble managed to beat Greece 2-1.

France playing 50% of their real potential could come out as 2-0 winners, although I would be very happy if Greece go through

 

I think that France will win this game.
But Greece should be proud for reaching the quarter-finals.

France is my favourites to win Euro 2004 and will overcome the greeks without any problems.
