According to some people, Turkey have strong potential to host the tournament and we should all be updated in the future about the topic in this thread.

Basically Turkey will make a strong bid to host the tournament soon but then there are controversial opinions about which city should host the matches. Because Sivas and Trabzon are not 'tourist material'.

The stadiums certain of hosting the events are:
Antalya
Istanbul: Şükrü Saraçoğlu
Istanbul: Seyrantepe
Kayseri: Kadir Has

And the other stadiums likely to host the tournament (With concrete stadium proposals)
Bursa
Sivas
Trabzon
Konya
Istanbul: Atatürk Olympiat (If preferred over Şükrü Saraçoğlu)

The new Inonu stadium will be beautiful, it's just the size of the stadium which will prevent it's chances of hosting the matches. I think the capacity will be 38,000?

Besides don't forget the 'two stadiums per city' rule.

Uefa says that to host the tournament, you need 8 cities with a 4 star rating stadiums each or higher and the tourists can all be given looked after properly when visiting the matches.

Sivas and Trabzon all have poor accommodation apparently. If we were to bid with this two cities then this might put our bid in jeopardy.

Pah, articles such as this could ruin our chances of hosting the Euros, despite however true it may be. We need to completely get rid of racism in Turkish football before it becomes a huge issue, since there were high profile racism going on this season.

Oh give me a break. We've had players in the Italian league doing the hail hitler sign. We've had portions of Lazio stadiums filled with neo nazi banners. There was a special about African players such and Henry and they treatment and taunting they get in the Spanish league, it's disgusting really.

England has done alright due the diversity of their league and national team. Turkiye def. has racism in its stands. Not that this justifies racism but its a more indirect form of it. Like on Antu the retards that say "we need 4 black players on the team." That is ridiculous really, almost any major league that comes to mind has a much larger problem in terms of racism.

Good choice of cities by the way...

They have just created two stadium proposals for Izmir. A 25,000 seater stadium for Karsiyaka which won't be used for Euro 2016. The second proposal is a 45,000 seater stadium which is aimed at the tournament but will be built on the outskirts of the city near the airport. So basically they're thinking of building a stadium just for the one tournament and then will be full of cobwebs and dust by 2020. Just like what the Olympiat stadium is right now in Istanbul.

Izmir´s Atatürk Stadium for 60000 is just fine imo for these few games. Okay it has a running track and doesn´t have roof but you may need all but a roof in summer Turkey.

By the way there is a brand new stadium under construction in Antalya already. They have got the proposals for Bursa, Izmir and Trabzon ready. They only have a few months left to sort all the other proposals out for the other remaining cities....

Graves you might get to see the project for a new stadium in Eskisehir this year btw.

Eskisehir is such a beautiful place so im sure it was always going to make it to the short list. I reckon Eskisehir could become a touristic hotspot for foreigners after 2016 too... :)

Although it sucks that I have to wait until the 15th of February to find out more information about our projects. :(

And another point is that we have to cater to 24 teams in eight cities. Would have been nicer if there was another city but I guess the TFF are on a tight budget.

I still don't think we are favourites to win the competition though. * I meant winning the hosting competition, not lifting the cup lol.

But it is a real shame that Trabzon will not be getting a new stadium, they're gonna have to stick with Avni Aker stadium for more than another decade probably whilst many other Anatolian teams will be ahead of them in terms of infrastructure and so on...

I wish they would have added an extra city from the east of Turkey.

I think we are one of the favorites, if not THE favorite.Because Italy and France each hosted this competition before on 2 "okazyon's" each. Norway and Sweden pulled out good too because it was probably going to be between us and them. If we get it stadiums will get built if not, it's a no go. The TFF will put aside 400 million Euro for the stadium projects and all will be 30,000 seat +. Sad that Trabzon wasn't included. Most of the cities are in Anadolu. Sukru Saracoglu was not picked either if I remember seeing correctly.

This is pretty exciting for Turkiye, let's get it here! :hopeful:

Aday Sehirler:
Ankara - Antalya - Bursa - Eskisehir - Istanbul - Izmir - Kayseri - Konya

Oh yeah and the thread title can probably be changed now to "Bid for Euro 2016"

Changed the thread title. Gravesends, you don't mind if I make your picture smaller so I can try and get this thread back to it's normal state?

I also found this piece of news:

And just cropped this bit from the interesting article regarding a new stadium proposal in Turkey:

The new stadium has the capacity of 40.500 spectators and all the grandstands will be covered. Each seat will at least have Cvalue 90. Each 1.000 spectators will have the buffet space of 7 metres, each 50 female spectators will have one restroom. The lunchroom will have the capacity of 200 men and 300 disabled people.

The stadium will have a media area with the capacity of 475 people and a size of 2.600 m2 s. The technical attributes of the Örnekköy Stadium will astonish everyone as well. This temple of football will have the gross capacity of 44.000 spectators and the net capacity of 40.500 spectators. It will include 50 lodges, a parking lot in the stadium with the capacity of 500 cars, 3 different restaurants, licensed merchandise shop, football museum, club management offices and conference halls.
