We all know the other 4 guys chosen from our team will most likely play, may of them regulars and musts (Raul, Salgado), but will our 5th man - Iker Casillas, just turned 19 get a chance to do it? Wouldn't it be awesome if he could? I have no doubt he can be a better performer tan Molina as we all know he has a tendancy to have VERY bad days, but will he take over Canizares? Santiago has been average to say the most lately and this really leaves the door open, doesn' it? In a article at DailySoccer they're even suggesting he will definitely get some play, so what do you guys think?

The way I see it, there are 3 possible scenarios that can determine this. Either
1) Canizares gets injured/not fit for a particular match, while Molina isn't 100%fit either.
2) Canizares & Molina play badly...thus Casillas is the last option.
3) It's the match that Spain no longer need to win badly, e.g. if they win the first 2 matches in the group...perhaps for the last match Casillas will play.

Well, the 2nd scenario seems the least likely; the 1st is more likely, but I don't think any of us wants that to happen. The last scenario is the nicest of course :)
Just my opinion...

P.S. Will he be the youngest player to be called up in EURO 2000?

I would love to see Casillas as the keeper of Spain!
He already proved largely in the CL that he is ready for the big jump with some of the biggest teams in the world. Now it would be logical to have him start...

Arriba Casillas!
Forza Magico Milan!
HAla Madrid!
Allez Les Bleus!
Arriba Espana!

The world will be...Bleu Blanc Rouge...again!

I found Casillas' balance has problems. Everytime when I saw him fall to the ground after caught the ball, his motions were so glaring.....seemed the ball was going to slip out from his hands, and he couldn't be stable when he caught the ground. He still need to be improved.

I think tht the only reason he is going is for the experience to hold him in stead for the World Cup wher he should play. It is too early now and the last thing that I want is for him to ruin his confidence by dropping a clanger in the EC.

Thanks for the compliments hala!I do like you too! :)
As the great Uruguayen poet Adriano Gatinieri said:
"Un hombre puede cambiere de mujer, sus ideas politicas pero niguno puede cambiare su equipo de futbol"
Meaning:"A man can change wife, political ideas and beliefs but never his football team" and i could not more agree with that!

Milan is my life!Senza Il Diavolo, non c'e vita!Wthout the Diavolo, there's no life!
But i do also really Love El Magnifico Real!OLE!

Forza Magico Milan!
Hala Madrid!
Allez Les Bleus!
Arriba Espana!

The world will be...Rossonero...again!

Iker should start. Both Molina and Canizares are good keepers but not anything special.Casillas IS something special and he needs one thing: experience. If Spain plays him now they may risk a blunter (not more than one,I'm sure) but they will have won their keeper for the next 15 years. However,I believe that Iker wont make any mistakes...

Parma will fight back...FORZA PARMA!

I think he has to play tonight against Sweden, because it is simply impossible that he will go into EURO 2000 with absolutely no international expierience. Camacho can't risk that, and that's why he'll probably come on as a sub tonight. And that way he becomes youngest ever player to play for Spain!!! :D

Real Madrid goalkeeper Casillas has informed that is not going to leave his club: i am playing with the best club in the world. I have been dreaming it since I was a child. I am not interested in leaving Real, he explained.
