I've heard this rumour a couple of times now, I don't know what to make of it.

Anyone know anything about this?

doubt really, and even if they did, it would be a HNL team or a B squad

USA usually play friendlies in Europe during the season, as now most of the US players are based in Europe, kind of like what Australia does during the season.

The only way Croatia would come to the states is in the summer, when all of our players are not fully fit to play a match. But if Dinamo and the U21's could come to Canada, they can come to America. It just seems funny they completely ignore America, while they send scouts to places like Australia and they vist Canada. I know the HNS is still living like its 1970 and thinks America sucks at soccer, but thats not the case and surely they could attempt to play here

most of the people from Pittsburgh came in the 1800's when the steel industry was booming, and most of them are actually from Northern Croatia, unlike the ones in California and NY/NJ where 99% are from Herzegovina or Dalmacija :D

Dinamo Zagreb came to Toronto in 2005, they played Rangers. I was in Croatia at that time. The U21's came to Canada in 2006 I believe and guys like Eduardo, Modric etc.. did come along, though they didn;t play in big venues.

I went through to Pittsburgh on a road trip about 15 years ago. We were driving around and happen to see a big building with the words "Croatian Community Center" or something like that so we go to a locked door and after a few minutes of ringing the bell and waiting an old guy comes to the door. We explain who we are and that we'd like to check out the center and maybe see if there are any events happening. He looks back, and we can see tables set up where mostly old men are playing cards, then turns back to us and says, "I don't think there are any Croatians in here."
Then we go to this place close buy with what looks like a guy selling beer out of his Garage with a sign like "Dukan...(something or other)" and we ask him about it. He tells us that there are picnics but that it's a mix of all yugoslavian people! Then he tells us that he's a 3rd generation Serb and goes to them all the time. So we bought a 2-4 of Rolling Rock and kept on rollin'.

when I was in Gettysburg, I was flipping around the stations and I heard Croatian radio based out of Harrisburg, similar to the WNYE program here, except they played more music from Zagorje rather than the corny Dalmatian music they play on WNYE

I remember a long time ago my dad told me that Sydney Croatia came to play in Toronto along with Celtic and some S. American team. Sydney at that time was the best team in Oz......to make a long story short we beat them like 6 or 7 nothing! Toronto Croatia at that time were the defending NASL Champs. Its sad how soccer in Canada has fallen so low that we are below the Aussies and the Yanks! But its no suprise when you have crooks running the CSA and other crooks running Toronto Croatia.

Back in 1990 Hajduk and dinamo came to NYC to play NY Croatia. Hajduk played at a stadium in Queens, NY and beat Croatia 3-0, and dinamo played a couple of months earlier at the Croatian picnic grounds in New Jersey. Unfortunately the star players didn't come but both games were a great experience, and I bought my first Hajduk scarf with the Hrvatski grb at the Hajduk match. I know that JureM was surely at the matches but did anybody else go from our forum??
