Which club do you think is the most prestigious now?

Most Presigious club in the world right now?

That means the club with the better pedigree.

Which means, the club that has the best and most titles.

The only club to achieve the TREBLE (do you know what that is??) is Inter Milan.... which in the way of achieving the title, beat the overated Barcelona and all its marketing muppets!

pres·tige noun, often attributive \pre-ˈstēzh, -ˈstēj\
Definition of PRESTIGE
1: standing or estimation in the eyes of people : weight or credit in general opinion
2: commanding position in people's minds

So this could be RM. Barca, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayner Munich, Inter, ACM, Juve, Boca, River and any other club that can fall into the definition....

simply because of their History.

so your opinions are based on Economics and a Eurocentric views?

Than you can add Man City to this list of PRESTIGIOUS clubs

Take your pick from any of Inter, Milan, Juve, Man United, Bayern, Barça, Real...and even Liverpool.

Dmitriy: prestige doesn't change from year to year, but it may be diminished if a team doesn't win much of note for a long stretch and vice versa.

We could use what appears to be the most straightforward test for prestige: which club would most players want to join because it would be such an honor?

But that wouldn't work.

Not only because money can confuse things but because other factors can come into play - a player may want to join a team because of the current coach or members of the existing squad.

And it wouldn't work because prestige isn't entirely objective either. Someone who lives and breathes EPL may think that Liverpool is by far the most prestigious club in the world in spite of what other clubs have done. So players who are exposed to some leagues more than others may think Liverpool is more prestigious than Barcelona. If most players are exposed to the EPL and their view of which club is the most prestigious is influenced by that, then you could say it skews the result. Or that the media exposure contributes to prestige.

I find players like Essien, Toure, Obi Mikel, etc. just don't have the same footballing intelligence as guys like Deco, Lampard, Xavi, etc.

What are your thoughts, calcio?

Prestige is something that lingers a long time, so to ask who the most prestigious club right now is, as if things have changed dramatically, is stupid.

Christ, trolling is difficult when people are apparently incapable of basic reading comprehension. Granted, English isn't everyones first language, but it's not so fun :(

I said that all South American clubs are European feeders. I said that all South American cups (including the Copa Liberatores) is at best on a par with the Scottish Cup. That should probably cover Boca, Flamnego, The Strongest, Santos and every other side in South America.

But now I've explained it, the trolling doesn't work so much. Poo :(

Incidentally, Chelsea have minimal prestige. Well, minimal long term prestige. I guess they have a degree of short term prestige, though I'm not entirely sure what you'd call short term prestige.

Why Chelsea before Inter? Before this decade, they'd only won one league title. No CL or CL-equivalent either. Not to mention they spent quite a bit of time in the lower division.

Oh, haha. That's right. Forgot your agenda for a minute.

P.S. You left Bayern out.

Wrong. Trolling amuses the person doing it.

Good trolling can amuse many, though I don't claim to be any good at it, compared to Andy or Dagoods.

On a sidenote: my favorite hangout place in Cairo is called prestige.

Great

chelsea is obviously more prestigious than inter now simply because premier league is far more prestigious than serie a and chelsea have been dominant in epl and champions league while inter maybe winning serie zzz but nobody cares about that league. in cl they have always sucked and last season inter didnt win the cl jose mourinho did

Why didn't Mourinho win the CL with Chelsea if he's a CL-winning guarantee, then?

I don't look at it that way. Imagine (sorry TGO) that City get their act together and build a juggernaut over the next few years and win two CLs. They would be prestigious in the sense you're talking about, sure. But would that suddenly make City more prestigious than United or Real or Barça? I don't think so.

I look at prestige the way people look at brands. Patek Philippe has been around for ages and is regarded as a prestigious brand of watch. If Swatch started making the superior type of watches with complications now, I wouldn't regard them as the most prestigious brand in 5 years.

You're right about Real and Barça, but I don't think current transfer market influence is the test here.
