hmmm... I don't know either one very well, but I think I would choose Essien almost any day. The fact that he is a starter on Chelsea and was key in carrying Ghana to the Round of 16, makes him a much more valuble player, imo.

 

Diarra for me though essien is better going forward

As a person who's seen both play countless times, I'll go with Essien, personally.

Diarra offers more defensively and is stronger on the pitch, but Essien is electrifying going forward at times and can take over a game. He was really on a short leash with Chelsea and I hope Mourinho loosens that a bit this season.

It would've made more sense since he's trying to play Essien in a spot Diarra has mastered.

 

for have seen the both playing for lyon. and for have seen the last chelsea match against american squad (where he has been the best chelsea's player by far) i would say essien.

 

I cant compare them, both do a sound job in their respective roles, Diarra is better defensivly and Essien is better offensivly. Depends on what you would want for your team, or what type of player you prefer.

Momo Sissoko is better then both though. :stuckup:

 

Essien is the better and more completely player, He can do Diarra's defensive workd good, though not as well as Mamadou(a waste to use Essien as purely destroyer as the likes of Diarra is), but also can run the midfield, good offensively, and is a very good two-way player.

 

Sissoko is way above the two.

If Essien would have the freedom in Chelsea he would be one hell of a player in the premiership. I think he is a class player.

I agree, the Essien for Ghana and Lyon is a completely different player than the shackled version at Chelsea.

I agree with SM though, defensively Sissoko certainly better than any midfielder in the PL, possibly Europe if you really think about it.

Yeah I was discussing this earlier with Yatta on msn, Essien isn't really the same sort of player as Diarra or Sissoko it's just Mourinho plays him like that. If played correctly he could become the best box to box midfielder in the world, he is being wasted at Chelsea at the moment.

:thumbsup: Just imagine how good he will be when he's 25, his game has improved so much since we first signed him when he was a bit of a liability looking like he could get sent off any minute but now he's one of the first names on the team sheet.
