Very true.they beat Bruges just last wednesday without Totti, and maybe next week, they will win the derby for Il Capitano.the players must not get despondent, and i am sure Spalletti will make sure they do not by telling them that they have won without him before,so do it again and dedicate it to him
Spalletti's reaction to the record breaking win wasn't comforting. The players all tried to celebrate...Spalletti barely shaked his assistants hands. He looked devasted to me. Hope I am wrong.

Sorry for all the depressed words guys....I'll stay away for awhile as I don't wanna ruin anyone's hopes for the rest of season.

Forza Roma sempre..

"Non possiamo mollare.Lottiamo e vinciamo senza il capitano"
Simone Perrotta

that's the spirit, even though i find it hard to smile or think positive at all at this very moment.

What a cruel way to equal the record. What a cruel twist to what should have been a day of joy. I have all the faith in the world for Spalletti, and we're not done for yet...but if we would have a real battle to retain our new-found fourth spot ( :proud: ) before, now we need something as big as the Austerlitz sun to lead us on.

Positives today:
1) Mexès not suspended for the derby. It's imperative he stays clear from booking in that game as well so that he's eligable for Inter.
2) We leapfrogged Florentia Viola. We closed down what seemed an impossible lead in ten weeks.
3) The possibility of establishing a new record next weekend.

Nothing more that is good came from this day.

Nice one :).

Spalletti was just trying to appear humble after equaling such a great record, don't read anything into that. We just have to recover and keep fighting. We've been finding ways to win for months now, we just will have to look a bit harder. ;)

really tough blow for you all. i really hope you all do well the rest of the way. (as long as you dont pass the viola).
it has been great to see another team challanging the big three

2 months is too much. Hopefully he can return within 6 weeks or something, anything smaller would be nice. Right now we just have to hope that we stay near 4th place until Totti returns in mid-april and hope he guides us to 4th when he returns, but it will be difficult. I believe he will be ready for the WC which is 3 and a half months away yet, but he will not be ready for Roma and this is what is difficult for me.

Montella is a good forward, but he is not what he was, if he is that in the next two months he would be my hero. Seriously though, the guy hasnt played much this season and now without any other forwards he will need to play alot of games in a row. Including the upcoming UEFA game and Lazio straight away after. Returning from injury this is difficult, but it will have to be done.

I still have faith in the boys, maybe the difficulty has just doubled, but we still have valuable players and Spalletti is a great manager. This is the time for a few more players to come of age I feel.

Forza Roma, Forza Totti, My thoughts are with you :)

What happened with Totti is absolutely horrible, I am really shocked and I am really sorry for him, it will be a real tragedy if that forces him out of the World Cup, plus it could well ruin Roma's season and his briliant efforts so fat may go to waste. But we must not give up, we've proven a few times already we can win without Totti, of course it's going to be really hard, but with luck the team can do it. Hopefully Fiorentina would keep losing points left, right and centre and Monty would find some kind of form.

I'm not an Italy fan by any stretch of the imagination, but it would be an absolute crime if he missed the the World Cup - playing, arguably, the best football of his career, his anger issues finally eradicated and a great Italian squad around him...his last chance to prove himself on the greatest of stages.:( I was already getting psyched about he and Ronaldinho squaring off. And we have six or seven mammoth ties left. What a nightmare...an unequivocal disaster.

Montella's form sounds anything but promising at the moment, and he's still got that injury to his spine. The only thing that gives me hope with Vincenzo is that he plays the role of underdog so well - when everyone believes he's had his day, he comes back with a vengeance. I'm not as confident as i used to be about him, or his capacity to regain his form of old(it's clear that injuries are taking their toll), but if there was ever a player you don't rule out, it's him. And if he can't, Nonda should be back in a fortnight or so.

hahahah. yeah but only half-hearted. :D

i want argentina to win it.

but most of all i want roma to buy cavenaghi, maxi lopez, lucho gonzalez and mascherano in summer.

I feel no joy. We have equalled a 40 years old record, but it hardly matters right now. I know that it'll end here. We can beat Lazio, but we can't win enough points in the long run without our captain, without the indisputably most creative player in our squad (or Italy), who not only creates chances, but scores a lot himself. Who recently learned how to guide the team. He's the guy you can give the ball to when you don't have any hope and he can turn it around. Or like Spalletti said the other day, it's like putting your money in the bank.

What makes this even worse than it could and should be, is Montella's current lack of quality. I hate to say it, but he was completely useless today. Out of 10 points, I'd struggle to find him worthy anything above 2. And that hurts so much. I don't blame him at all. He's given more than most players to his team, always coming back when you expect it the least, but we can safely conclude that the way back is longer than it has ever been. He's got a mega-serious injury, he's not getting any younger and I have to admit that even Montella, even Top Gun, can't come back every time. I don't write him off, but I have accepted the fact that he might not return to his greatness. That hurts even more than Totti's injury, that after all is only temporary.

I've had the whole evening to digest this, but no matter how I look at it, the only thing that could be worse is a more serious injury. I'm sorry guys, but I've lost a lot of hope. This match proved how uncreative we can be without Totti. The few things that gives me hope is first Mancini. God knows we need his best form to keep this up. Another hope is De Rossi and Perrotta who leave their souls out there every week. The third hope is Mexes and Chivu, the latter was at his absolute best today. The fourth hope is Doni, who's been perfect these last couple of months. All in all, my hope is that they can keep it together by fighting like they have, with this outstanding team spirit, but I'm terrified by the absence of creativity in our attack. Quite frankly, I'm not sure if it exists anymore.

Damnit Vanigli, you represent one of the hundred aspects of Serie A I hate unconditionally: tackles on Totti from behind. It wasn't the worst of tackles, but ironically it ended up like it. What bothers me a lot is that they seem to do it even if there are more rational and effective solutions. What pisses me off to another world is that they're allowed to do it.

I'd break my own ankle if that made me wrong in my predictions.

i apologize for making you see this picture, a horrific injury, my jaw was dropped for about 10 minutes after i saw the fall. i knew it was bad when it happened. Grazie Roma for not giving up. Totti's loss is a huge blow and like the rest of you, I'm devestated. But for Totti's sake, and for Roma's sake we must rise above and prove to the Serie A Roma is a force, and that we're going to the Champions League next season!

:frustrat:
