THEY WILL PAY A BILLION

Serie A is cutting on the size of wages? Here is why it isn't.

The salary for the players in Serie A is flying over one billion euros, but the clubs will never confirm it. Indeed, initial estimate (arising from contracts based) is leading to a mountain of 802.5 million. In apparent decline over the past two years. NO use for me mentioned who is overpaid in our squad, since it is the same players I mentioned last year. In all likelyhood our wage spending next year will go down considerably. that stupid managers always make sure we keep one worthless player on high wages every year is obviously irritating. (Gattuso this year, Kaladze last)

 

How sad it is how high Baptista is on that list

 

At least you're not paying 3.2 and 3.5 million for Sauzo and Mancini

 

Some bizarre figures:

- Toni 4 mil at Genoa
- Falmini 4th best payed player in Milan squad (even better than Robinho)
- Motta from 0.33 mil at Roma last year to 1.5 Mil at Juve. What a pay rise!
- Mancini and Suazo are payed more than Zanetti

 

Apparently last year Parma's most expensive player was Panucci :cam:

2.5 more than any other member in that squad which is huge difference. Some real notable low contracts there too.

 

Just realised Mancini, Suazo and Muntari (3 outcasts really) combined get more than the whole Cesena squad

 

If that figure is correct and Flamini has a four year contract his total cost is around 20M, as he was a free transfer, which is ok considering he was a starter in Arsenal even if he's only been a squad player in Milan.

 

30 million. If it was a four year contract, 7.5 more if it's a five year deal.

That is a very solid starting 11 btw, only Flamini seems out of place, but his pay is high as he was a free transfer.

 

Just bringing this back up. Udinese's squad assembled cost just 18.5mln in wages. Awesome.

 

Have you noticed that Napoli and Udinese also have the shortest list of players? Quality over Quantity might be something the rest follow.

 

Not if you want to compete on several fronts, not if you want to be assured of success (insurance against injuries).

That said it is very clear that the big clubs overpay a lot for some players, in fact for many players overall. When Milan and Inter quadruple their wages when they move from a smaller club then something really is wrong. Was for example Suazo really so sought after that Inter needed to give him that wage? He can't have had anythign close to that in Cagliari.

 

Udinese may have a smaller squad, but they also have about 1000 players co-owned and somewhere else

 

What's the story with this Deano? I've been following Italian football a lot more recently and have noticed this trend a lot. Any idea what the thinking is behind these deals, and huge squad sizes?

 

We all know Inter adapted at some periods type of mercato's to weaken others. The Suazo transfer classifies as one not allowing Milan to strengthen tactic. But I think Milan are thankful for inter now.
