MESTALLA @ 22:00 CET

Courtois starting after Dr. Escribano gave Manzano the green light against Osasuna. This is his big chance to cement a starting spot while Joel still has to pick himself up and get into better shape. The back-four is picking itself; Sílvio on the right, Perea-Domínguez as CB's and Filipe will play on the left. The fullbacks are essential to our attacking play, they have to go forward when given a chance and overload the flanks as that's where Valencia will struggle most. Same goes for the midfield this time around. Mario as the holding midfielder in a 4-3-3 while Tiago and especially Gabi are given freedom to go forward.

Crucial to our game
Gabi's distribution. He's been terrifick in the first five games.

The front three will be made up of Reyes on the right, finally plays in his natural position while Salvio has been left in Madrid. Adrián probably gets the nod to play as a wide player on the left which he's done quite often for Deportivo previously.

Falcão makes his debut.

Bench
Joel, Antonio López, Miranda, Arda Turan, Paulo Assunção, Juanfran, Diego

Diego and Arda will most likely be introduced into the game during the second part of the game. Diego's trained three times a day to be in shape but not played a single competetive game since May. He's looked very good in training and Arda, despite having a long way to go in terms of matchfitness have been looking pretty good for Turkey in their last two qualifiers, even though he missed that penalty against Belgium.

I'll make a humble prediction; 5-0 to Atlético and Mestalla burns down.

Adrián's got 3 goals and 4 assists in five games so far. Arda is lacking match fitness, Diego haven't played a competetive game since May, only trained on his own since Wolfsburg wanted to get rid off him. Read the first post, lazy American's..:nono:

Thank you, Hero of Cunton..are Valencia's fans turning into Galatasaray's now?

I already knew all that :pp

So... it will be Reyes, Falcao, and Adrian up front?

I don't care how many stats Adrian has, he's shit. Note, no goals and no assists against La Liga teams this season :D

He can be "shit" as long as he wins this game against Valencia. That's all that matters.

That won't happen. Adrián is Bota D'Oro, ask Friki.

Confirmed line-up.

Courtois
Sílvio - Miranda - Domínguez (C) - Filipe Luís
Tiago - Mario - Gabi
Reyes - Falcão - Adrián

Miranda is the only surprise.

That Silvio dude really can not deliver one good cross in. You looked better once Diego and Turan came in (he really should've passed to Falcao on that chance though) but still you were a bit clueless out there. Reyes was your man of the match once again and a tie perhaps would have been a fairer result since Valencia didn't do much either.

We had a penalty denied and a goal that was not called for the ref not knowing the offside rule. Overall, nothing special but I can say that we were slightly better and that was shown in the defence. Atletico never had the chances we had

The one the left side? Jesus christ, he can't cut off his arms. No unatural movement with his arm which is neccessary to be able to call a penalty.

..and Piatti, for gods sake, he's diving even more now than he did at Almería and Estudiantes. Tonight was a disgrace.

First 15 minutes were good, composed and disciplined. Then the players started losing the ball on a regular basis; couldn't keep it to save their lives until there was 30 minutes left of the game. The space between the lines was too big and it had to be corrected, Valencia were better in the first half and deserved to be ahead when Soldado scored the opening goal. However, it could've easily been avoided if they were just paying a bit more attention and kept an eye on him inside the penalty area. Tough to debut on Mestalla for Miranda who did allright but he clearly needs to be a lot more ruthless, like in the last 30 minutes when he kept winning possession. The midfield trio were good for 15 minutes today and I really don't know why Manzano keeps playing Mario because he doesn't add anything we haven't already got; if you can keep the ball, then there's no need for "steel" in midfield which was clearly shown with the entrance of Diego and Arda. Both of them played really well and we should've scored a few times from the halfchances that never became 100% chances.

The problem was the final ball. Arda, Diego, Sílvio, Reyes and others kept going past their defenders but the delivery was beyond horrendous at times. The difference could be seen when Sílvio put in that cross in the second half from which Gabi should've scored. Atlético should've picked up points tonight but didn't because the finishing wasn't good enough and the final ball was lacking in crucial situations. Arda and Diego will start the next game, I'm positive we played so much better with them on the pitch. I love the way Arda goes past his opponents on the wing and then makes them fall onto their ass, he does that everytime Turkey plays :D Diego looked very confident and good out there, not quite 100% especially in terms of sprinting yet but he'll come good. Falcao didn't have any delivery today and I've said it before, we haven't got a striker who can do it on his own anymore. Courtois did well, as expected really. The big dissapointment was Filipe Luís who didn't go forward at all.

Overall though we can't expect better for now, there's been many signings in the summer so this team is a work in progress.

He always does that :D EPL would've probably been a better adress for him, where he could've stood out more. Anyway, it's clear that both Diego and Arda need to play from the beginning, so they can work their magic in peace.
