Of course Real and AZ are worlds apart and a title-winning situation isn't so alien to these players, still they are all human and it's not out of the question that they could all be afflicted by mental fragility at points.

I don't care about the final outcome now that Sevilla cocked up once more; still, of course I care about the overall "spicyness" of the occasion, if that makes any sense.

The entire defence was crap, you can't really single out individuals. You defend as a team, and that also involves support from the midfield which has been severely lacking.

Gio was actually in decent form in the run up to this game, as was Thuram. We need more organization at the back, not just to rely on the individuals ability to mark their men or tackle. And in the lack of organization, Puyol is also a culprit. His original position was not central defence, and it still shows after all these years.

Rijkaard was a great organizer at the back, and I can't understand why that isn't showing in our play. He has his work cut out this summer.

You can't criticise individuals if they don't know what they're supposed to be doing out there, which is the feeling I get whenever I watch them defend. Half the defence is playing the offside trap, half the defence is marking their men, our defensive midfielders usually leave a giant hole in the middle; it's just so chaotic.

 

You guys have to win so that M4's post in my signature from months and months ago comes true.

 

Agreed on the lacking of support from our midfield. If you leak goals in the last minutes of decisive games that's never just a problem of the back four. It's Iniesta's (for example) fault too.

If laporta doesn't splash money into the transfer market this year,he and rijkaard will find their backs against the wall next season. what's wrong with him,Barca is a rich club and he tried 2 negotiate Lyon 2 sell abidal for 9-10 mil euros. That's not even close 2 abidal's price tag!If he keeps it this way,we'll end up buying a couple of crap players like gudjohnsen this season.

He should dig deep into his pockets,he should prepare a transfer kitty of no less than 40 million euros.

Mallorca will probably miraculously pull out a result at the Bernabeu, but we still won't win the league cause we'll concede a late goal against Nastic and end up drawing or losing. It's been the story of our entire season unfortunately. :rollani:

Anyway, stranger things have happened and I expect Mallorca to put up a fight at least. The title isn't decided until the final day. Let's have faith even though realistically things don't look too great.
