It's happening.

Talk of a medical on Monday.

Hulk? He's cup-tied and has gigantic wages, probably out of your reach. What's the point?

Not our worst transfer by any stretch given those numbers and the fact it's a short term loan. But easily one of our most pointless, he adds nothing to this team.

I will be pissed if we loan out Quag due to this, who is far more capable and has done well this season relative to our strikers.

But easily one of our most pointless, he adds nothing to this team.
A team that plays with two strikers in the starting XI needs five in the squad. With Bendtner's long-term injury, we have four, and the necessity of a fifth striker has been highlighted recently with Vucinic's and Giovinco's injuries and Quags' suspension.

Anyway, not done deal yet. There's still time for Drogba accept our offer and come to an agreement with his club (certainly must be too late for legal measures) even though the likelihood of those happening is low at this point.

Ofcourse, he has to be atleast that, though he has scored 3 goals in 24 games in frigging China...

#13 ·
Yeah, but without trying much, you should be able to do more then that? I doubt Drogba is trying much there either, but he scored 3 times more then that in half the games he played.

Anyways, I dont care, he will be here for 5 months then get back to his vacation. I just cant stand how this is continuing the same useless pattern of doing fvck all to improve our attack, first build our attack around mediocre players, act suprise they cant score double figures all season, secondly spend all year long talking up getting big names/quality options, and then thirdly end up getting nothing but loans of CRAP players in last minute.

This is the January mercato. Who did you expect, Gonzalo Higuain not cup-tied?

#16 ·
Yep, you are right, its either Le Sulk or Gonzalo, nothing else.

However you slice it, our attacking department is a mismanaged joke. And we prolong and add to it with pointless loans of average players, and then delude ourselves after every time by asking ourselves what else could we have gotten? Well, we seem to be doing damn fine for the other parts of the team...

Anyways, he is official:

Hi Saliza, no one is wishing for Gonzalo here, just sarcasm due to signing Le Sulk here.

I hope he still "has it".

I don't know what he's capable of but this realllllly needs to work out. :palm:

One thing I will always say about Anelka is that he is one of the best finishers in the game. His link up play is pretty good and last time I saw him play before be moved to China he still had decent pace. If he gets decent service he will score goals, he's not the type of player to make something out of nothing (Drogba is which is probably why he scores more in China), but overall one of the best strikers to have played in te premier league and one of the most consistent goalscorers who scored decent amounts wherever he went.

Genuinely think this is a good stop gap and a player who has that CL knockout experience too.

#24 ·
But this all begs the question. Does he (will he?) have the "I still have something to prove" approach to his game?

#25 ·
I think Rob over idealized him a bit with regards to finishing. He's never been pure striker at Chelsea, he's been mostly an advanced support striker there, their engine in the attacking formation. Great player no doubt, but his line of duty requires top-notch condition, which I'm doubtful about, especially since there's little time to boost his fitness before Champions League games...

May have been better to just bring up a youth team striker to play in the senior team games if needed, rather than have a Le Sulk. I only hope he doesn't mess up the dressing room. And to think he will be eligible to receive €200k if Juve wins the scudetto, even if he plays zero games.

Our only striker crisis is not playing 3 upfront.
