Less than 10 games , and the importance of Morientes as a player in Valencia can't be denied. In Liga, he scored an important goal in opening and yesterday in first CL game against Olympiakos, his efficiency and his experience were what Valencia needed to win.

Since he was the best spanish forward in R Madrid, but not so considered there, they forgot his goals in CL and even against Valencia in CL final.

He moved to french AS Monaco and reached a CL final. No one could forget how he made ridiculous R Madrid in the face off. After a english times in Liverpool, not a big success, just decent under Benitez orders, he joins Valencia and he's back to Spain.

Here El Moro, is a threat and he will be again an area killer, he has skills, and he's not over. Added with Villa Valencia is very dangerous team, experience with youngness, technical with strength a great cocktail in attack

Valencia crowd will enjoy the season

Well said. Morientes always has and always will be one of the deadliest strikers in Europe, its a pity that it didnt work out for him in Liverpool but he's back home now and i have no doubt in my mind that with this Valencia with the likes of Vicente, Villa, Joaquin, Edu with Miguel and Del Horno hooking him up from the wings that Morientes will be among the top scorers this season for sure.

I really hope that Aragones brings him back to the Spanish NT because he offers us something none of our strikers do.

Villa and Morientes should be the starting strikers for spanish NT, clearly the best partnership there is!

He always has been a great striker, his time at Liverpool should be overlooked, as not many continental strikers excel there and his record in CL is a prove of that!

Morientes! You're great! EPL just not suitable for him, and many Spanish players!
He should move earlier!

Sadly, Spanish NT have Raul and Torres...

Moro only failed in EPL because of his lack of speed, but he always gave a great effort and technically he controlled a ball that Cisse could only dream of, but he's not the most athletic of players which cost him.

I also think he works well in Valencia because he plays next to a mobile striker who is very fast, in his times at Liverpool his best games were always when playing with Baros, and when you consider than Villa is a lot lot better than Baros, it means already Moro is in a more comfortable environment, with a slower tempo game aswell. He's also play a lot deeper nowadays as a second striker, I hope Luis calls him back and drops Raul and El Nino, opting to play Valencia's strikeforce :hopefull:

Good luck to him.

what is this bullshit about taking away torres from the national selection??? torres is much better then morientes in everything...morientes is great but give me a ****ing break, torres scores gols for the national selection like a maniac now

Torres is talented, no doubt, but he is inconsistent as **** Maxi ;), one good game, one bad game, better than Raul but still, for the seleccion it's important that the player in form is chosen, Torres form is up-down, Moro's at this moment in time is up, so he'd be the ideal partner for Villa who IMO is number 1 striker for La Furia.

I taught I'd revive this thread as this may unfortunately be his last season here :(

True gentleman and one of my favorites in the squad. Wouldn't mind if he continued for another season as a backup aswell.

Well he's back to goal scoring form, with two last night. Maybe now Unai sees he's a lot more useful than Angulo who should start be the third or fourth choice striker imo.

I agree Moro before angulo. I don't get how angulo starts some matches yet Hugo Viana doesn't even make the bench? he is 1 of the most creative players in our squad.

i love morientes. i cant believe that this thread is filled with posts from outsiders. hardly any Valencia fans commenting on this fantastic player (even though he did contribute to Valencia losing in the Champs Lge Final)
he is a fantastic player. i would love him to see out his career with us. fantastic player that should start ahead of Angulo. hope Emry realises that he is an important asset to our squad. AMUNT EL MORO!!

:dielaugh: And I agree with your point there, Morientes needs to start, even though Mata and Vicente have done more in the season to warrant a starting eleven spot.

The problem with our game lately is that we do get a lot of opportunities early and we don't finish them off. Morientes, even though he hasn't been spectacular this season, can finish them off and then we can play the sexy stuff in the second half with the introduction of Vicente (as I doubt Moro has the physical form to always play 90 minutes) moving Mata upfront with Villa to exploit the spaces given to us when we are in the lead, and counter.
