he recently mentioned he sent scouts to watch this kid. he also said he's been getting standard minutes for the past seasons...basically, my interpretation is that he doesn't want a band aid remedy. he'd rather play someone in that position that is familiar with it...no need to try and get Jedvaj or anyone else playing out of position.

Bejl hasn‘t played much lately at Real, no? should be out of form

also, from what I read on nso.hu, players of Tottnhem and Liverpul aren‘t in their squad because CL final duty. Ramsey or what‘s his name injured.

Bale has been essentially frozen out at Real and barely plays..but still poses a big danger. Speed and strong in the air. And for us Lovren, has barely played at all for Liverpool this year...and in the CL will be on the bench too..

I don't know much else about Wales players..but they'll battle no matter who they put out there...

usually they are a bunch of pub team hacks and have 1 or 2 stars, who now either aren‘t nominated or out of form, nobody to feed that gay hack Bejl with balls. we‘ll play against them too 3 days later, so you better destroy them hard so they‘ll arrive demoralized in Judapest :D

We are in a very complicated situation.
It is the time to put fresh blood in the national team but in the starting XI.

After the run in world cup nobody will dare to put some players on the bench but it is needed.

Let the likes of livakovic benkovic bradaric sunjic vlasic gain experience.

Most of our players from the world cup had a very average season.

It is the time to start a cycle with the new generation of players.

This exact process gives me a pit in my stomach about this qualification cycle. On paper we should be the clear cut #1 team in the group but when your moving from an old generation to a new one, it’s not easy coupled with the fact that no team in our group is a walk in the park and they all feel like they can qualify. I think typical us, we’ll eek by via the playoffs and make it in that way.

Even with this period of minor transition, we have more than enough talent to get us through. Please for the love of God can we qualify for once without the heart attacks.

Rakitic and Rebic out...not good.

Rakitic, maybe with Kova and our midfield options isn't the end of the world...but Rebic out is a blow...

As for Rakitic...love the guy, but he pulled this no show crap a lot in the last cycle also. Didn't play an away game until the do or die in the Ukraine I don't think. As for his "injury"...I saw him play for Barca in the Copa...he didn't get pulled off because he was injured...just wasn't having a great game...it is what it is though....Modric is still playing though, so we are still in safe hands in the mid.

Someone pass the Rolaids, I am s.hitting bricks now...and the game is over a week away....must win. :mute:

Never realised he never plays in away game. How strange.

I don't trust media speculation. I'll wait until Rakitic says something (expands on the reporting if he does), but why would he feel underappreciated? Being born in Switzerland? Sound ridiculous.

Yeah I don't buy that. He is living the dream that every single one of us outside Croatia (expect for the bb'ers...) have in playing for Croatia...you know his family couldn't be more proud he puts on our sacred jersey.

But...if Barca was playing in the CL final this Saturday, you can be sure he'd be ready to go...

Disappointing but nothing we can do.

If we lose points to Wales...then its going to get real complicated...

I have to admit that I've felt he's been underappreciated as well. Rakitic accepted a role on the NT and I felt he performed that role incredibly well while Modric received most of the praise. If we go back to almost every game, we see Rakitic dropping back deep, making himself available for link plays between defense and forwards, his long passes were incredible and defensive assignments were always completed very well!

I like the guy a lot. He plays a very smart game and his level of passing and skills are absolutely brilliant. I hope he works through this!

Rakitic and Modric seem to have a great relationship. It's possible deep down he might feel unappreciated. Someone should tell him though that Croatian fans will never forget his role in taking Croatia to the WC finals and his contribution to the NT in general. He's had his share of ordinary performances but man we're sure lucky to have him and Modric play together in their primes.

On the other hand it is normal for Modric to get the bigger praise. Golden ball winner and all. Modric just takes us to that next level. Not to mention he's always ready to play for the NT. I was hoping though that since Modric would probably retire after the Euros that Rakitic would lead us in the midfield for one last WC. We'll see.

I don’t buy this media speculation half it seems to be just pure conjuncture. I think he truly enjoys playing for the repka. I remember when they came to the US for those friendlies half the guys left after the Peru game he stuck around and played quite well in that Mexico game.

I think the truth is the man has had a nagging injury for a portion of the year. Probably hasn’t been 100% in a while. Also the man has played allot of football the last few years. I think in 2018 he played the most minutes for Barca, add the WC.

We have options in midfield, Rebic is more of a worry. Figure Brekalo/Vlasic will play the wing? Kramaric at CF? Options upfront are more limited.
