As the majority of you know, there will be 24 teams at the next European Championship to be held in France.

The top 2 teams in each qualifying group automatically qualify.

Netherlands are the favourites to top the group, with the 2nd place position largely contested by Turkey, Czech Republic and Iceland. I believe that we have a good enough team to finish 2nd in this group.

Unfortunately we are still lacking a good goal scorer and have limited options in this area. We have some exciting options in midfield, and the defence I guess is reasonable.

On a personal note, if we do qualify I plan to go to Euro 2016 to support Turkey. Fingers Crossed.

My preferred line up would be as follows, what would yours be ?

-----------------------Burak------------------------

Arda------------------Hakan.C-----------------Gokhan.T---

--------------Nuri-----------------????-----------------------

Caner--------Omer--------------Semih----------Gokhan.G----

------------------------????--------------------------------

If Çalhanoğlu doesn't start I will cry! Terim should start Kaan Ayhan as well, Erdinç should start upfront and perhaps Özyakup should get a game he has been impressive.

Or a miracle might happen and Terim may convince Emre Can to join Turkey in which case he should be made captain and given special priveledges such as being able to whip Sabri at half time for kicks

DEFANS: İsmail Köybaşı, Caner Erkin, Ersan Gülüm, Hakan Balta, Ömer Toprak, Semih Kaya, Gökhan Gönül, Tarık Çamdal

ORTA SAHA: Ozan Tufan, Mehmet Topal, Oğuzhan Özyakup, Selçuk İnan, Emre Belözoğlu, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Arda Turan, Olcay Şahan, Ahmet İlhan Özek, Olcan Adın

Excellent call ups, not much to complain about there and I'm especially happy about monkey Volkan being left out. Hopefully it stays this way for good.

Our fullback situation hasn't looked this good for a while. If injury prone Gökhan can't play, nothing wrong with Tarik. Same goes for Caner and Ismail, worst case scenario Hakan Balta can play. Ersan - Semih, good CB duo. Hakan + Ömer solid backups. Mustafa, Burak, Mevlüt as strikers

Defense and GK are pretty much done. Turkey needs to find that ideal setup for midfield and strikers now, that's where the biggest struggle lies. We are still in a rebuilding process.

The most notable omission is probably that of Kaan Ayhan but he hasn't been called up before, so that's not a total shock. Gokhan Tore is another one but he has been coming off the bench for BJK to start off the season and joined them late for camp. That might be a factor here.

Otherwise, Nuri and Tolga Cigerci have been injured and missed the start of the season.

On another note, I saw the latest U21 squad and there are promising names in there - Kerim Frei, Muhammed Demirci, Bilal Basacikoglu, Salih Ucan, Kaan Ayhan.

Bilal Basacikoglu looks promising https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v-gldt9uDU, has played for Holland at youth level. He is a winger.

Kaan Ayhan started for Schalke against Bayern Munich. The game finished 1-1.

Throw Çalhanoğlu in there and it's better than the senior team

I am absolutely shocked that Terim hasn't called up Bilal, Salih and Kaan Ayhan to the NT it's just mind boggling

I mean Kaan plays against the likes of Dortmund and Bayern, he's already lightyears ahead of guys like Caner, Balta, GĂĽlĂĽm et all in terms of defensive understanding.

When will our managers grow some BALLS and play players because they deserve it not because of their age, who they know, where they play, where they were born...

The first qualifier is going to be a tough away game to Iceland. You need plenty of experience for that game, so maybe that's why he has chosen a squad of more senior players. A little bit like the penultimate qualifier away to Norway during the EURO 2008 campaign. He had Yusuf Simsek come on after we took the lead and he ran the show in midfield in the last 20-25mins.

Maybe that's what he has in mind for Emre for the Iceland game. A vastly experienced player to come on in the last 20-30mins to spring counter attacks with his range of passing.

@zizou

Man seriously, are we really going to compare a guy who has played all over europe to a player who has never seen first flight football outside of Turkey? OÄźuzhan is talented, no doubt, but to claim he's already better than Emre ever was is just a sign of not knowing what you're talking about.

I'm not underestimating anything. He failed to cut it at a miserable newcastle squad that shows how good he is right?

Yea he was good at GS fine I accept that. But there's no way he's at the level you guys are elevating him too.

And yeah I know nothing, this is coming from the guy who thinks Arda couldn't cut it in the la liga and that Burak is a bad striker.

Keep it classy bro. You can hit the the proverbial euphemisms as much as you like, it doesn't change the fact that this guy was always overrated by our fans.

Im confident of Oguzhan because he's a real talent.

Whatever talent Emre had abandoned him long ago.

That's what I don't understand. You clearly make an absurd statement just because of your lack of knowledge on a certain topic, probably due to the fact that you're simply too young to know better. But hell, instead of accepting that you can't know everything and you're wrong you go on and defend that bullshit you spilled. To say that OÄźuzhan at this point is x times the player Emre ever was is just not possible. You can go and and talk about how bad Emre supposedly did all day long. Fact is that OÄźuzhan doesn't even come close to do better than him until now. Let him win just one trophy before you make statements like that.

Tamam, whatever you say is right. You can hold your hands up and argue that Emre is better than Oguzhan, but what I'm saying to you is that he sucked in Europe.

Because I've seen him play I know this statement is right. I don't think it's absurd to say Player A is better than player B if the talent is there, it's entirely plausible that HE is better than Emre was in his prime.

Your overall argument doesn't mean shit tbh, it's basically something like this "YOU'RE TOO YOUNG TO REMEMBER EMRE IN HIS PRIME SO YOU'RE WRONG EVEN THOUGH I'VE PROVIDED NO REAL REASON WHY EMRE IS/WAS A BETTER PLAYER"

That's why I'm not wasting my time with you. To me he'll always be some guy who never fulfilled his potential (if he had any). Dudes like Sergen and Tugay should be praised more. Tugay cut it in the EPL for Eight damn years, Emre couldn't even hack half of that during his mid twenties.

So on what basis are you saying he's better? He had his best days at Gala. I'm accepting that, but what has he done to elevate him to the heights you're saying?

I'm saying Oguzhan is going to be better because he has the potential to become an absolute monster. He's gone from strength to strength despite being only 21, which is ridiculously rare for a Turkish player. After seeing him shit on Arsenal as well I'm all the more aware of this.

So pardon me, If I think this. The dudes got another 12 years to catch up on Emre, he can acheive some big things within that time frame.
