Normally don't pay attention to pre-season friendlies, but Ajax's Nouri collapsed during the friendly against Werder Bremen.

Pretty much out of nowhere. Heart rhythm disorder being the reason. Fortunately Ajax report that he's stable at the moment.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Absolutely terrible news.
Ajax has confirmed that Nouri has severe and permanent brain damage.

Career and basically life ended before it had really even started.

Just saw that. Really awful. Didn't know Cheick Tioté passed away either until now.

Heerenveen are doing well. I read they're interested in another Japanese international, seeing as Kobayashi has been a solid buy for them, another midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka. I saw him play against Australia and he was excellent. Scored a marvelous goal and locked Rogic right out of the game.

For the second time this season PSV are big winners on a match day where Ajax and Feyenoord drop points while PSV win.

PSV were fortunate that communication between Twente's goalkeeper and centre backs is not good as 2 of their 4 goals were a result of that (one being an own goal), a questionable penalty for PSV too. Twente look a decent side, defensive communication is an issue based of this game (the only game I have seen of them this season).

Title has become PSV's to lose.

We managed to make NAC look like a tactically astute La Liga side.

When Ajax faced them last night

PSV are very poor in possession, thought the start of the Ajax game was because players were not used to the formation, particularly in midfield... You wouldn't think they were top of the table watching them against Ajax.

I think Hendrix or Brenet will get themselves a second yellow in the second half.

This PSV is perhaps the worst side I've ever seen topping the Dutch league. Outside of Lozano and maybe Van Ginkel and Perreiro there's literally ZERO talent there. A guy like Locadia would probably not even stand out in the Championship. Luuk de Jong, Brenet, Isimat, Arias, all beyond mediocre.

They fluked their way to a lot of wins and actually got dominated by a 10 men out of form Feyenoord.

Sooner or later reality will sink in and they will start to drop points.

:D

They're now being linked to a 10 million euro deal with Velez Sarsfield for young 18 year old striker Maxi Romero. Locadia or de Jong to be flogged off in the winterbreak.

Interesting day

Ajax sack Keizer, Bergkamp and Spijkerman. Shame. Way too early. Club boards nowadays :frown2:

Looking at Iranian footballers in the past, you´d say the Bundesliga. Try it out first at a midtable club like Eintracht Frankfurt or Hertha Berlin.

Groningen want to buy Doan btw but they´ll have to pay Gamba Osaka just under 2 million euros. Quite a hefty sum for a club like Groningen. It will probably depend on whether they can get more for Mahi and whoever else.

Doan is in great form atm. He scored a cracking goal vs AZ which was cancelled out at the death by Jahanbaksh.

There's some interesting Japanese players in the Benelux region. Ryota Morioka did really well for Beveren then signed for Anderlecht recently.

Wonder if any of these guys will get call ups for the upcoming friendlies. Shoya Nakajima is doing great in Portugal with Portimonense, too.

Looks like Morioka and Nakajima have https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_national_football_team

as a winger too.

Eredivisie's MVP I guess

Wonder where that gets you to nowadays. As an AZ player, a 15m euro move to something like Borussia Monchengladbach, Schalke or Bayer Leverkusen?

Champs: PSV - CL 3rd round qualifiers (beginning of August - there's a 4th round too)
Runners-up: Ajax - CL 2nd round qualifiers (end of July)

AZ - Europa League 2nd round qualifiers (end of July)
Feyenoord - cup winners - Europa League 3rd round qualifiers (beginning of August) or Group stages if Marseille win the CL

Play-offs between Utrecht, Vitesse, ADO and Heerenveen to decide the last EL spot, also a 2nd round qualifier.

Relegated: FC Twente

Sparta and Roda JC to play in the relegation/promotion play-offs. 2 rounds.
Sparta first have to play FC Dordrecht. Winner faces NEC or Emmen
Roda play Almere City. Winner faces Telstar or de Graafschap.

Would be amusing if Emmen or Telstar got promoted.

Yeah, not bad in the end.

Roda JC have been relegated btw. They lost 2-1 on aggregate to Almere City.
Almere face de Graafschap in a 2 legged affair to get promoted to the Eredivisie.

Sparta edged out FC Dordrecht and now face FC Emmen to stay up in the Eredivisie.

#29 ·
Sparta are about to crash out too.

FC Emmen in the Eredivisie :D
