i dont want him either!

on a financial perspective ok, but he will always request the power to have an influence on the things that go on the field and in the locker room. Top priority imo is now to offload the mafiosi as well

While I don't want Perez either, I don't agree with the "anyone" part... I don't want just anyone... I want someone better then Perez and Calderon... In an ideal world where Perez actually learned from his mistakes, I believe he would make a good president, sure... but let us be realistic (I am looking at you Josh :D ), he hasn't been going to some sort of anti-megalomania rehab in these past few years....

To paraphrase yahtzee... Perez is trying to sell you the best goddamn pudding in the world, but the problem is that he stuck his penis in first... it still is a good pudding, but do you really want to eat it?

... depends on how hungry you are, innit?

this "time for someone new" please guys, just live with it. theres absolutely no one that's gonna challenge perez NO ONE.

we just have to hope Perez learned from his mistakes because there isnt anyone out there whos gonna win the elections that will meet 'our' requirements. even if there is someone out there somewhere, hes not gonna win the elections which wont get him anywhere.

And according to others, it's Perez telling Kaka's father to tell Man City to back off.

do you guys think he'll bring in Zidane as his sporting manager as rumors once suggested? I dont like the idea a lot actually.

I want him to train one of the youth teams -there the kids can look up to him and learn-, but not to ruin himself like Mijatovic did. You can only loose in this position at least when you were a hero before. Any competent sporting director?

I would hate the idea of Zidane as a sporting director. I think legends like Zidane and Redondo should be given coaching jobs or honorary roles within the team.
Hard to say. I think Zidane might be a good sporting director as he certainly understands how to make a team play well. But yeah, not enough evidence to justify his selection.

Then again, maybe he can convince Benzema to come over....

Let's wait and see what actually happens. There was one article over a month ago that said Zidane would be Florentino's Sporting Director. One article; that's it. I doubt there's any truth to it.

I think Florentino will hire somebody competent and experienced for the Sporting Director role, as he'll focus on the business side and bringing the prestige back while the SD brings in players. I believe he won't make the same mistakes again.

Let's just hope he learned from his mistakes... it's inevitable that he will become the next president.

Zidane as sporting director is a good and bad idea. Good in the sense he's far more respected than his predecessor so he won't be taken advantage of ;) Bad that if it doesn't work out he will make a Mijatovic of himself. I do want to see him coaching the youth ranks!

Figo - Buyout clause, Ronaldo and Zidane - unsettled, easy targets along with a world record fee, Beckham - fell out with Ferguson and available at the right price.

Flotentino can't work miracles, he simply knows when to make his move, something Calderon did not. You can only bring a player in if their current club is willing to talk, and on every one of those occasions they were, apart from Figo, where we bypassed that little detail.

When all is said and done, the best transfer gurus take advantages of situations, Calderon couldn't really do that. Perez got what he wanted, and they were all unsettled by the fact that Perez' plans were great.
And Figo was a great move i think :D
But yeah!

Green: to be honest i dont see a problem with either list of players. when compared against each other each list has a couple of random players that we did not need. in terms of Pros Perez has the zidane, ronaldo, figo whilst Calderon has Ruud, Higuain and generally the core group of our last 2 seasons, and seasons to follow.

Calderon has sold off most if not all of Perez's players, yet has replaced them with players who are inferior really. but one cant say that because the times are different, the philosphy and the football.

Yet Perez started buying bottom of the barrel crap to plug in the black hole that was our defence and midfield. however surely he has learnt from that, and we have no other choice but to hope so.

i dont know where i was reading it, but when Perez takes over now again he'll be inheriting a solid group of players that only needs a crack or two, which is exactly what i think. and this is something he likes buying. so it will hopefully work out fine, he doesnt need to meddle with the team, he just needs to apply the finishing touches that we on XT have been crying out for. im talking the Ronaldo's, Kaka's, Benzema's etc.
