Coach Roberto Mancini has stunned fans by admitting he regrets his decision to remain at Lazio.

The tactician signed a new five-year contract in the summer after being convinced by the club’s plan for the future despite their financial problems.

"I’m very disappointed," he told the ‘Corriere dello Sport’ on Friday. "If I could turn back time then I wouldn’t stay.

"There was a project in place but the truth is that we haven’t even started it yet. I’m tired of all the rubbish that is being spoken by people who don’t know anything.

"A plan can be developed but it needs to get off the ground. The players are doing everything that is being asked of them.

"I just hope this situation can be quickly clarified. I’m disillusioned but that doesn’t mean that I will give up."

Lazio have had a disappointing start to the season and are already out of the Champions’ League. So what can be done?

"I think that it will be difficult for us to make an impact in the January transfer window," he added.

"We need a new striker and a wide player but we can only limit ourselves to swap deals and free transfers. I just hope that all my injured players can recover from their problems."

Mancini, who was wanted by Inter last summer, also admitted defeat in his club’s bid to keep Dejan Stankovic.

"Six months ago we could have easily got him to sign a new contract," he explained. "His situation has not been well handled. He’ll now join Inter or Juventus."

The former Red Star Belgrade ace will be available for nothing once this season ends.

This is the end.
I see someone is already getting into the holiday season spirit! :howler:

Seriously, certain things with Lazio (both the team and the club) are not what they should be. Not surprising then to see people having second thoughts sometimes.

Non mollare mai... ;)

This from a coach who took charge of our team when things were looking gloomy to say the least (financially) and who remained upbeat when everyone was sure we were done for. I doubt seriuosly that he said those exact words, as is often the case with any Laziale.

bdw, I see that the old Centrocampista has returned ! :D

Look don't worry...he feels there is nothing concrete at the club to build on and rightly so. But as a soon as some kind of project like he said is started, I'm sure he will forget all about the what he said. He just need to see something tangible at the moment he doesn't have that.

As soon as he is shown something concrete with some real purpose and you will see things will come together. Because right now there is no real purpose or aim for the club it just seems to do as good as possible.

:)

First, can't even be sure that it was his exact words. Just twisting a bit here and there, and a totally different meaning can be the result!

Second, if it was really what he said, it may be just a rather thoughtless comment that he himself jsut said in the heat of a moment or when his mood wasnt exactly at its best, but of course the press are always ready to prey whenever you say any single thing that some public figures have simply chosen to shut their mouth altogether :)

So i wouldn't bee too worried about it.

This statement is worrying but Mancini speaks the truth. Lazio's management leaves a lot to be desired. Mancini needs clarification about the future of Lazio - as anyone working a job with uncertain future would do. He also said that Lazio handled Deki's situation poorly - it is nothing but the truth. I believe Mancini is a man who would stay and fight to the end for better future for Lazio but he has all the right in the world to be frustrated by our management.Perhaps when he was about to sign his contract the management promised him things which they didn't do later. The problem is that the moment to talk was not very good right now but we don't even know if these are his exact words.
Anyway, we must support the club especially in moments like that FORZA LAZIO!

This aint the first time media is trying to drag Lazio's name in the mud. Politically, a statement like this is suicide and I doubt Mancini would go through this source if he wishes to make a statement like this.

If this is true, Mancini will be gone before end of january. Sacked.

By the way... which italian team is related to Corriere dello Sport?

One guess...

I've seen stranger things happen, quotes entirely made up, the person allegedly being interviewed not even contacted, translations that would make Babelfish look professional....

I can only hope that Coach Mancini makes a press conference to clear the air.

Just two things to say about this:

1. If these statements are true: Vaffanculo Mancini

2. If these statements are false: Arivaffanculo Mancini

One more thing: Yes I agree with Reale. :D

Forza Lazio!
It's now 18:33 in the evening,it doesn't take that long to deny what was written.
Plus all his words were in quotes which leads me to believe that its true.

Funny he doesn't say he's not happy about his wages...........SEEING THAT HE IS GETTING ALOT MORE THAN THE REST,including Inzaghi, the guy he just loves to Bash!!
