"Le General" will continue with the national team of France.
Dider Deschamps, aka as "La Deche" just changed his mind (helped a lot by Lemerre's insistance) and that is a good thing for the equilibrium of the team to have such a leader on the field.

Here's the source on Calciomercato.com

Now here we go again, San Siro!! ;)

I agree if you said that Deschamp is one of the great player in France national team! His leadership still needed by the team!
But in my think, reffering to the fact that there's so many good and young midfielders in France, it supposed to be a good idea about his retiring from national team! Young players will have their chance to do the regeneration in the team! Deschamp wouldn't be able to play in WC2002, he's aging! Yeaa, you can say a player like Blanc still play in his age right now, but there's a different situation, I guess! France have many options in midfield where there's not the same with the defenders! I think there's no players who can replace Blanc, Desailly and Thuram right now!

I don't know what's in Lemerre's head, I just don't agree with that!!

Blanc will be retiring soon!
This upcoming charity game is his last performance with national team!!
I hope Djetou can replace Blanc's position in France's next game! The next France game after this charity game is play against England!! Hope Lemerre call Djetou for that position!!

France has a good team right now but also have many good and young promising players. They better try to fill them in right now instead of keeping players like Deschamps in the team for the friendlys. It's no use i think. It's better so that when the WC comes, the new players don't have to be fit in few months ago..

This is Platini's comment about this situation!

PARIS, Aug 16 (Reuters) - World Cup-winning captain Didier Deschamps should quit the international stage, former France skipper and coach Michel Platini said on Wednesday.

While veteran defender Laurent Blanc will make his final appearance in a French shirt in a charity match against a FIFA World Stars team in Marseille on Wednesday night, Deschamps has postponed a decision on his future.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who moved from Chelsea to Valencia in the off-season, has said he expected to play for France against England at the Stade de France on September 2.

French coach Roger Lemerre hopes to convince him to stay on in the wake of the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European championship triumphs but Platini said in an interview with sports daily L'Equipe that Deschamps should quit now.

``If I was in his place I would stop playing now,'' Platini said. ``To finish at the top -- that is the best. On the other hand if he thinks he can be a starter for the next two years I can understand why he would not stop.

``It's up to him to decide but if it was me I would retire.''

Deschamps has played 101 internationals in his career stretching back to 1989 and won European Cups with Olympique Marseille and Juventus.

He has signed a three-year deal with Valencia.
