How much money do you get if you make it to the group stage?

What a chance this is for Haifa. I can't wait for this one already

 

If i'm not wrong, without money for results, it's around 20+(?) million shekel.

And playing in Ramat gan means it will be even higher.

 

From what i remember when Maccabi Tel Aviv played, it was 600,000 euros per match, meaning at least 3,600,000 euros in the group stage.

A bonus of 1,000,000 euros for a draw and 2,000,000 euros for a win. But i am not sure about these last numbers, but the participation sum is more or less the amount Maccabi earned at that time.

And of course the tickets like mentioned above, Haifa will probably play at Ramat Gan all their home matches.

 

Theres no way you get 2mil euros on winning a group stage game.. you can atleast cut this price in half.

2mil is for like the last 16, or stuff like that, but I might be wrong and Uefa started handing out money like Santa claus

 

Ok I checked around and :

UEFA awards €3 million to each team that qualifies for the UEFA Champions League, plus €2.4 million for participating in the Group stage. A Group stage win is worth €600,000 and a draw is worth €300,000.
In addition, UEFA pays each quarter finalist €2.5 million, €3 million for each semi-finalist, €4 million for the runners-up and €7 million for the winners.

So if they qualify they will get 5.4 milion euros just for playing, thats round about 25milion shekel alone.

and with a possibility of winning/drawing, and considering the tickets sellout in Ramat Gan, I'd say they can even climb up to 40 milion Shekel in total.

That should keep Yaakov Shahar happy for a few more seasons

Btw did you guys know that in Romania, due to thier CL succses the champion automaticly qualify to the group stages?

That wowed me, cause we're not so much behind Romania IMO, and say if Haifa reachs the group stages this season and hopefully next year any team that might be will do the same, we might be able to earn this aswell!.

 

Yeah it a very good sum for Maccabi Haifa. And especially now that in our league, the clkubs are cautious in spending money this could give an extra motivation for Shahar to strengthen the squad.

Regarding the coefficients, Israel until now is in first place in this seasons ranking. Of course we had countries who played less games and eventually will earn more points later on like England, Italy Germany Spain and so on.
But comparing to countries ranked near Israel, we are taking adavantage. Norway, Cyprus, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria who are all ahead of Israel are for now worse. Sweden and Austria who come right behind aswell and plus they suffered from Israeli victories.

Hapoel beat Teplice and are probbaly qualifying aswell as Haifa against Goteburg.

So this season has been very good for our teams and our coefficient.

Romania is way ahead, they are in 8th place, we are 22th. In order to have one more team playing in Europe, Israel needs be at least ranked in 15th. On the season that happened we had both Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa playing for a CL spot.

The only thing Haifa must avoid is lack of concentration or overconfidence. Salzburg qualified in the previous two rounds despite not winning their home games, but by winning both away games. OK, it was less good opposition than Haifa, but still... They are used to fanatic crowds as well, remember they played Dinamo Zagreb last round. I think the key for Haifa is to start this game as if it was a one leg game, not count on a draw or anything like that, just go for it and then I´m confident it will turn out OK. The whole of Israel shall hopefully get behind Haifa, this is a unique chance to bring Champions League football to Israel.

Anyone know a stream for the second leg? For the first one I couldn´t find one that didn´t require one of those dodgy softwares like Sopcast or so (the one time I tried to run that program my antivirus called mayhem )

 

we're all talking about the group stage but i agree with cracked...lets relax, i continue to stress that salzburg plays very well away. Haifa need to play this game just like its the first one, play relax, but not overconfident...after that we can talk about the group stage and the money haifa will make

But how do those Sopcast and such work? I tried once to install it and my AVG Anti-virus was going wild with security warnings, so I didn´t dare to complete the installation ... I´d need a stream that just requires Windows Media Player or online images embedded in the site, I am a bit paranoid when it comes to installing those special softwares.

The problem is that businessmen who end up playing a role in football, buying clubs or investing money on it only sees the clubs as a pure commercial machine in which they wish to profit or to expose their company.
What they do not see (or at least if they know they ignore it) is that football has a large part of emotional affairs, fans attached with the clubs and their ideologies (most clubs when founded had an ideology, could be social, political etc...). And a company like Red Bull simply come and erase a more than 70 year history of a club is not correct, at least on the fans point of view.

yes i read about this a while ago actually...listen it sucks, i hate to see this kind of coorperate-like football...a club losing trace of its histroy is even worst. Still, this is a good club. As a fan, i would lose faith seeing such events happen to my club.

 

I have said it before, but people look too much from the emotional perspective at things like this, MK Dons, etc... Let´s not forget one thing: SV Austria Salzburg had so many debts that the club would be dead by now if Red Bull didn´t buy it. So without Red Bull there would simply be no Salzburg based club in the professional football right now. That they try to erase the history of the club is not nice no, but that people can whine so much about changing the club colours is beyond my understanding. It´s just a colour for gods sake ... Fact is that the club is financially healthy again, plays in a new state-of-the-art stadium and qualifies for Europe again. If Red Bull didn´t buy the club, they would be dead by now. So is Red Bull that bad then? I don´t think so ... Before Red Bull take-over the club was already named Casino Salzburg and Wustenrot Salzburg for sponsorship reasons, so in a way what Red Bull does now is nothing new, it just caught more attention because Red Bull is a more famous trademark but the club already had its name changes for sponsorship reasons before.


Also, the fans founded a new team to keep the old history alive. The first thing they tried is merging with another club (a local policemen´s club !) to skip the lowest leagues and immediately start in the 4th level. Yeah, way to go and keep true sports spirit alive, immediately trying to merge with another team to bypass the normal rules is really contrary to what those fans were claiming to represent so allow me to say that the fan-founded Austria Salzburg is a total joke.


I don´t like the business edge of football myself, but thanks to UEFA there is no way back from this. The Champions League made some clubs so rich that they are run like businesses, and every year the financial injections in football are increasing. Some stadiums already have hotels and casinos built in, clubs spread their own brands of products and even credit cards, ... Clubs have become companies, sad but true. I fear the only way back would be to reverse it all and go back to amateur football, which UEFA would never dare because they have their succesfull product called Champions League.

So let´s face it, clubs like Red Bull Salzburg are part of football in its present form. In lot of other countries stadiums are already named after a sponsor, that´s also like erasing or downgrading the club´s history. In Switzerland we even have a club called Interwetten.com ... It doesn´t sound nice, but I fear this is the truth we will have to live with. Red Bull Salzburg is just one of the many such examples, and there will be even more within a few years.

 

I agree with most of your points. When you say that if Red Bull company wouldn´t have bought Austria Salzburg they would be in the lower divisions by now. That is true and that is the current reality of football. Since we have much more people intrested in the game, fans around the world of course businessmen see this as opportunities and to be honest their are not wrong in their point of view.

But one point i don´t agree with you was when you said that colours of a club doesn´t matter. IMO it is important, it is part of the clubs identity, history. Imagine if have Maccabi Haifa who since its birth is green, playing in red? It wouldn´t be the same. Imagine playing for 70 years with a name and a colour and all of a sudden it is changed? Red Bull could have invested without a problem, if they want to give the name of the arena the name of their company no problem, the sponsor on the shirt no problem aswell, but change the teams name and colour it already takes the passionate side of football.

 

Well the day has come and Maccabi Haifa has a golden opportunity to secure its second ever appearance in the CL group stages.
After the brilliant 2-1 vicotry in Salzburg Elisha Levy and its boys will try to keep their advantage in front of a packed Ramat Gan Stadium.

Haifa will have to do it without its key defender Dekel Keinan who is ruled out due to yellow card suspension. In his place comes Portuguese Jorge Teixeira who was out of action the first game for the same reason. Shai Maimon continues to receive credit in the heart of defense.

The rest of the team will be the very same, with only a doubt between Lior Rafaelov and Eyal Golasa. The latter has been in great form recently and could have the edge.

Probable lineup:
Davidovich; Meshumar, Maimon, Teixeira, Mesilela; Kiyal, Culma, Ghadir, Golasa (Rafaelov); Katan, Dvalishvili.

 

Some speculations have already surrounded Kiriat Eliezer in case the club advances to the Group Stage. A foreign striker is suppose to land in Haifa and if that happens Yaro Bello would be loaned. Hapoel Haifa and Hapoel Acco already showed intrest.

Omer Golan and Gal Alberman are also names that have been rumoured to join the club in case they qualify.
Barak Itzhaki is wanted, but Beitar Jerusalem won´t let him go.

Salzburgs away form has been better than there home form, so haifa better watch out, but I think they will qualify in the end.

Great game. As always, when Haifa plays a team in their own level heading towards the Champions League group stages, they perform better. While watching the game, I had accounts of their run in Champions League back when they beat Strum Graz. It was the same type of arena and strategy...

They had the (red) bull by the horns in this game and perfomed well. Salzburg really didnt have a strategy nor did they try. If at any, they were looking for a draw or many expected a draw since some key players were missing from the Austrian side. That being said, Haifa missed a few good opprotunities to net in 5-0 and 6-0....

but overall, they finished and won on 5-1 Aggregate.

IMPERIA!!!!! Haifa is the best club in israel and you can't even argue. Fine, salzburg sucked! i mean they didn't have one real threat on goal. That being said, haifa starting the game with a winning attitude, no bunker like most israeli teams...instead they went out to score more goals and the result shows it. Salzburg sat back as haifa just continued to threaten them.

Our defense was prime, sound, composed, and very relaxed. Davidovitch with no more stupid mistakes as he did back in the day, today i saw a davidovitch who just played well composed and saved what needed to be saved. Good job by him. Meshumar and Meseilela both just kept pushing up and also defended great, really helped push the haifa attack. Maimon was well contained, the few problems texeira the portuguese had to do he took care of but i personally think he is a waste of a foreigners position and we should just loan him instead of loaning bello if we want to bring another foreigner.

Kayal played well, he threatned, but maybe he could have shined more.
Katan was just outstanding, active in every play, saw him coming back all the time, he's a true leader
Our chubby georgian played great, he's just wants to score all the time
Culma played well but didn't stick out too much
Boccoli...kind of a mistake in my opinion levi should have made space for arbietman. I didn't understand why arbietman wasn't put in after his good form, the guy desereves a chance already! he's been riding the bench too much.

Now, ghadir and golasa...these two are amazing. Ghadir just knows where he needs to stand, he knows where to place himself so well and just be ready for the ball. He could have scored atleast 3 goals this game if he was just a bit more composed and finished in a cleaner fashion because he creates the oppurtunities for himself. Golasa is also amazing, he knows how to dribble...there is no doubt in that and like ghadir he is not shy to shot the ball when he see's fit, this is what israeli football needs more of. Guys who place themselves, dribble and don't hesitate to shoot

overall haifa played a great game, in the end of the second half they kind of sat back a bit more, but most of the game they were enthusiastic, strong, aggressive, attacked well and very well composed. They are a good young team, led by a good leader and the fans were outstanding tonight. Even the announcers on Fox Soccer Channel said the atmosphere was so intense. This is what we will need to build on in the group stage. We need to make oppoenents scared of playing us in tel-aviv.

What Imperia?
Having gone to the CL group stages on the back of a team who plays in the same leauge as you do. You gave up on Liverpool, you gave up on Rosenborg (same leauge once again) and you fumbled a few times here and there, especially against FC Turku of Finland.

But im not going to say anything. I got nothing on my mind and i jus want to congradulate you on going to the next stage... My support for Israeli soccer doesnt stop with my nemesis.. Euro tournament brings everyone together.

Also the Austrians threatened a little bit in the 70th minute til the end..but got nothing out of it....still they won and Ghadir really wanted to score which he did...
