Great come back by last year's Confederation Cup winners' Leopards. From 1-4 down in the first leg against the Nigerians of Kano Pillars they've managed to win 3-0 at home and qualify to the next round.

Mazembe and Zamalek out of the groupstage?

strong possibilities now after the 1st legs.

#6 ·
Watched CAB-Ahly. At times I struggled to stay awake.

Our goalie was decisive in the 2nd half.

We didn't test their goalie properly even once.

#8 ·
Zamalek qualify thanks to a goal in the 87th minute.

#9 ·
Ahly's qualification was not easy, could have been 2-2. Our defence looked dodgy. But I complained about it being dodgy last year and we won the tournament. :D

#11 ·
Hossam Elbadry has left Ahly to sign for Ahly Tripoli. He will never be back at the club again after his unprofessional attitude with the Board of Directors.

Assistant manager Mohammad Youssef will take over as interim manager till the end of the season.

Hopefully "El Mister" will come back and steer us to #8.

Last year’s losing finalists, Esperance of Tunisian have been drawn in Group B alongside Coton Sport of Cameroon, Sewe Sport of Ivory Coast and Recreativo de Libolo of Angola.

Orange CAF Champions League draw:

I just paid a visit to the official website of Orlando Pirates - their biggest name is Benni McCarthy. Wasn't aware that he plys his trade there.

I'll miss Zamalek-Ahly because of work :groan:

Really impressed with Recreativo's defender, #4, built like a tank.

Esperance deservedly beat Coton Sport 2-0, should have been more. Their opening goal was top quality.

Will manage to watch Ahly-Pirates as I finish work an hour prior to ko. :)

#19 ·
Missed it, fell asleep.

The excuse is playing whilst fasting, though from what I can remember Ahly players were fasting during the 1st leg of the 2001 CL final against Sundowns in Pretoria and managed a 1-1 draw so...

#20 · (Edited)
they all seemed to be exhausted / off-form , gomaa was disappointing (he was against playing while fasting) , walid soliman .. just far from his level , aboutrika said that he won't have any problems with that .. he wasn't that bad actually, he was awfull.

Zamalek displayed a very pleasing game last season , hope to see more of them .

#21 ·
Orlando Pirates with pretty impressive results so far. Knocking out Mazembe, trouncing Ahly and then Zamalek consecutively (Ahly and Zamalek aren't going through the best of times, but still..)

Ahly bounce back and win in Congo, missed it due to work though. Now if Ahly beat Leopards in day 4 they'll be favorites for 2nd place.

Ahly vs. Zamalek in round 5 is pretty vital now. Winner kicks out the loser, more or less. Especially as hth counts.

I haven't watched a single Ahly match so far in the groupstage..

Ahly = character

Zamalek = choking.

To come back from the 0-3 against Orlando and win 3 on the trot is impressive.

On the other hand - Who the **** takes a 1-0 lead then concedes 4 goals?

Basically now Ahly need a point in South Africa to avoid Esperance in the semis.

Walid Suleiman is such a magnificent player. Dude's left foot is magical.

#28 ·
Both tough and possible. :D

Ahly won the trophy in Tunisia last year, a point in South Africa is not unthinkable.
