Bundesliga vs Serie A

so which one is better in the eyes of popular opinion right now?

it's a tough call IMO. I don't watch Bundesliga that much and and I'm probably biased towards Italian football...but i do have to say that Bundesliga football looks a lot more entertaining and faster these days compared to like 8-9 years ago. When it comes to entertainment then the average Bundesliga match > average Serie A match.

I guess it might be more "competitive" too although I don't think it should matter as it doesn't necessarily mean it's strong...

please discuss

P.S. thread dedicated to Cacini who loves these kind of discussions :smileani:

make a poll...

i choose bundesliga just because the stadiums are 99% full, serie a stadiums are 15% full..
but serie a will always be a league that everyone will watch...

Right now it is definitely close, Bundesliga seems to be growing much more in the right direction though in comparison to Serie A. Thats all I can say for now.

Entertainment-wise, Bundesliga.

If you're into traditional big teams and derbies, Serie A is still it.

In terms of competitiveness, Serie A looks up for grabs for Milan right now and potentially, Roma or Juve with Inter as the longshot of the big 4.

Think the Bungesliga EL-tier teams are superior to the Serie A EL-tier teams too.

well, I don't think the Bundesliga has a foreign cap like all the other top leagues in Europe and their NT doesn't seem to suffer ;)

If you asked me 15-20 years ago I would have said Serie A hands down, but I'm leaning towards the Bundesliga now. I still enjoy Serie A actually, but not as passionately as I did back in the mid 90s. I don't like the standard of refs in Italy and many matches are not enjoyable anymore, and as somebody mentioned, its tough to watch games where 7,000 people show up in a stadium the fits 30,000.

Bundesliga for some reason though gets very little coverage here in America, which is a shame, good league, tons of goals (which could sell the sport here in America, but they'd rather show Chelsea whoop on Wolves or some shit like that), good crowds, no crazy-tackling mofos, unpredictable...

So you see that Bundesliga has a higher attendance number, significantly, more than La Liga and Serie A combined! A shame that there isn't another German team that could challenge the CL...

LOL I grew up watching italian football as a kid, we used to go place bets every sunday at 10 years old lol and i could tell you that shit changed A LOT.

Players got old, I hate watching football where a game is going to end up 1-0 or 0-0. I really hate it, I can't go through it.

This week's results...
Brescia 1 - 1 Juventus
Cagliari 0 - 1 Napoli
Catania 1 - 0 Udinese
Cesena 1 - 0 Lazio
Chievo 0 - 0 Bari
Genoa 1 - 0 Bologna
Lecce 1 - 1 Internazionale
Milan 3 - 1 Palermo
Roma 3 - 2 Fiorentina
Parma 1 - 0 Sampdoria

Look at the Bundesliga difference!

Schalke 04 3 - 0 St. Pauli
Hamburger SV 2 - 1 Hoffenheim
Eintracht Fran… 3 - 1 Wolfsburg
Borussia M'gla… 3 - 3 Bayern München
Freiburg 1 - 0 Mainz 05
Nürnberg 3 - 1 Köln
Hannover 96 0 - 4 Borussia Dortmund
Leverkusen 3 - 1 Kaiserslautern
Stuttgart 6 - 0 Werder Bremen

Bundesliga : 35 Goals!
Serie A : 18 Goals!

I don't know how anyone could follow the league anymore...

Goals scored doesn't mean an awful lot tbh, Dutch league probably leads in that aspect.

But if you want to use it, iirc Serie A had a higher goals/match avg compared to La Liga and the Premiership a couple of seasons ago (too lazy to check, rob the nerd probably knows)

#38 ·
Goals doesnt mean entertainment, go watch the Dutch league , you can see every week 7-0,6-1, 5-1...etc.
And if you are looking to attendance Bundesliga is higher than la Liga and premier league, it means nothing too in terms of quality of football cuz as we know Bundesliga is not on the same level as the 2 leagues listed.

Van Gaal after Bayern 2-0 Roma....this I think explains the whole discussion of Serie A entertainment :

"Roma only got over the halfway line five times – they just sat back and defended "

It happens, Bayern faced Roma when we were in a miserable form even Cagliari defeated Roma by 5, it means nothing.
I can remind you that Inter ****ed Bayern last year & Bayern needed a robbery to defeat Fiorentina last year.

Btw Fiorentina wasnt from the top 5 last-year.
