Well Chelsea wallopped Barcelona and even though Chelsea win EPL games, they generally have found it tough to demolish opponents. While Barcelona are sweeping all beside them. Of course they are a magnificent team, but does guts mean these small shitty Spanish teams should get rewarded for bravery? No, if bunker is what you need to be good at to stop Barca, then that is what these teams should be doing, not playing and losing very easily :)

You look at the quality of the squads Real and Barca have assembled and you look at the quality of opposition faced up until now and the results are self-explanatory. Sure, Atletico are considered one of the tougher La Liga teams to face but they folded at Camp Nou because predictably their defense couldn't hold up - offensively they showed plenty of good touches and caused Barca's defense all sorts of problems.

It's also still very early on in the season and a lot of those midtable teams are usually a different proposition once the season settles down. They lack the resources to sign world-class players like Zlatan who can make an immediate impact. They need time to gel and improve their game.

Seriously, do people question Barcelona after last season? In their champions league run there was only the away leg vs Chelsea where they actually looked like they could be hurt, and then they go to the final with a severely weakened XI and take it with ease

Real Madrid have spent 250 mil give or take a few, surely that ought to put things out of balance. Rich man's SPL indeed :rollani:

Please don't mention us in the same sentence with Madrid. PLEASE! What's next bozos, a poll entitled Is Barcelona (and Getafe) really that good? Madrid prooved nothing yet, besides showing some proof that they are probably better than Zurich and Xerez.

I assumed these sort of questions about Barca were put to bed when we beat Man U, the team almost universally considered the best in Europe before the CL final. Don't really know what more we can do after that. Madrid on the other hand still have things to prove.

Because mentioning the 3-2 would not be favourable to the case I am making. You wouldnt go to court pleading innocence and then say you stabbed him in the heart would you?

Anyway on Barca, we all know they are a very good team, but my point still stands, they are battering every team in La Liga, at least in EPL we generally see many close games even with the big guns against minnows.

And despite what we should all think, Barca are top class, but not miles better than Chelsea, Man U or Liverpool. So if thats the case, Barca should find some hard games in la Liga the way the above teams do in EPL.

Combination of both though.

But most of the defences in that league definitely flatter Barca and Real Madrid as theyre absolutely shocking.

As we saw last year with both RM and Barca, when they come up against a tactically organised and well drilled team, they struggle. Real Madrid went out vs Liverpool and Barca had to rely on a bent ref to go through against Chelsea.

Actually, not to reopen all that crap again, but had the ref called a handball on Ballack in the 5th minute, the chavs would have likely been opened up on the altar. Wolfgang Stark also helped Chelsea hold a 0-0 at Camp Nou while they were outplayed in every other facet of the game. And its not like Barcelona defeated Man Utd thoroughly, a side that is even better defensively than Chelsea, no?

Anyway, as Barco said, don't compare the Barcelonisme to Madrid. Even Pellegrini today said that he doesn't even pretend to say his side plays like Barcelona.

Cant be arsed going into the ins and outs of it, but im just saying that when Barca and RM actually come up against a decent defence, they arent flattered as much as they are in the league. La Liga actually is a rich man's SPL or Greek superleague.

Chelsea defence > Man United defence (especially when missing fletcher) by the way

Come the end of the season the table will probably read Barca 102 points Madrid 101, something like that.. :D

 agreed, spanish league has zero competitiveness i think, apart from the classico and the valencia or sevilla perhaps games against top 2 whats point in tuning in? 3-0 after 27 minutes!!

EPL is the best league in the world, not coz it has the best stars, but the competitivness is so high now that 5 teams can win the league hypothetically (arsenal, liverpool, chelsea, man u and man city), and the gaps are getting closer (4-3 utd vs city, 2-1 utd vs arsenal), whilst for example in italy roma and milan and getting further behind inter and juve...and a team like aston villa or spurs or everton whilst 7th in EPL but can walk all over any 5th or 6th or 7th strongest team in spain or italy...

I found it hilarious Atletico playing a high line against Barcelona on their massive pitch. What an earth were they thinking. That team apart from their strikers are absolute garbage.

It does seem to be that that the rest of La Liga are just their to bend over and get raped 0-5. Although people will say Villareal, Valencia, Sevilla etc are top teams but really they are the best of a sorry bunch. What do they ever do in the CL? ***** all really.

i agree with you. its stupidity like this (atletico) that can be found in every other team.

only bilbao and osasuna have the right idea and play to their means. just play long ball and bunker down. the other teams are managed by people who think the draw is non-existent.

also the defending in la liga is awful. sometimes all it requires is to put a foot in, but they stand there like flag polls in a down hill slalolm. not that defending in other leagues is that much better mind you, but in la liga opposition teams facing barca especially want the ball given to them. thats not gonna happen when they rely on 70%+ possession every game.

sometimes ive watched the barca players walk into the box. as good and remarkable as they are, that cant be happening. you gotta use your 10 players more effectively. put bodies on the line.

the high line of defending as you mentioned is #1 though. because so many teams do this and then it becomes comical watching the midfield trot back like imbeciles as messi, iniesta and henry run at them.

La liga has always been a toss between Real Madrid and Barcelona... only occasionaly valencia or Atletico have a shout.

Not my favourite cup of tea.

Now if you wanna see what an exciting league is being totally open, taht has to be the brazilian league:proud:

If palmeiras lose tomorrow against Cruzeiro and we beat Sao Paulo on sunday, their will be around 10 teams to have a serious shout for the title, with 13 games to play!:smileani:
