Greece national team has become one of the strongest teams in the Europe after Otto Rehagel turned history of their football with surprising the World leading them winning the victory European Championship 2004 that they just secondly participated after doing in 1980. Earlier, Greece was just a bottom-average team in The Europe and they just firstly participated in World Cup in 1994. Recently, Greece just qualified their second World cup this year. Their greatest player ever could send to contest with others World-class players by without any shameful. Vassilis Hatzipanagis played for them just a game because FIFA didn’t allow him to do more due to his appearance in USSR U-21.

Formation XI

Image

Explanation of Formation

Sarganis is the best Greek keeper ever. The back line is belonged to two guys from the EURO 2004 winner like Dellas and Seitaridis. Georgatos and Manolas will fulfill this line to be strongest as possible. In midfield line, Delikaris is regarded as Gianni Rivera of Greece will play along with Hatzipanagis who possess superb dribbling ability and another great playmaker like Domazos. Zakorakis who won EURO 2004 player of the tournament will stay as DM. This squad has no target striker, just available in second striker or forward like Mavros and Sideris owning to the shortage of great striker.

I didn't forgot Machlas but he didn't good enough to include. He was just great ina year hw eon European golden boot and thanks for mention about Nikolaidis, He is more deserved to be in squad than Anastopoulos by far so I have improved.

#4 ·
Machlas can be discarded, he was shit for Greece and really overrated.

Manolas must start, he was alot more amazing than Dellas or Dabizas ever were. Geogatos over Iosifidis... Hmmm, never really, but that's because I hate Georgatos by my whole heart.

Thanks for mention about Manolas. I actually read some website about all-time Greece and Manolas is selected as a starter as well so when you insist that, I will not hesitate to raise him in the first eleven and Dabizas has been named off.

Georgatos was the only Greek could play in Italian series A comfortably. I saw him played and I feel he was amazing everytime.

#6 ·
Georgatos definetly deserves to be there.

On that note, Tsiartas was a ********, but one of the most talented Greek players of all time, with one hell of a lethal left foot as he showed in Greece and in Spain.

I just find that I omit the great player like Sideris. He was really great scorer despite being inside forward. So I have named him in Formation XI and Saravakos is away to be in substitution. Kyrgiakos is already out of this squad.

Do you guys know a played called Andreas Papaemanuel (or Papaemanouil)? I read an article on Greece in the early 60s, and he was considered the greatest Greek player. Greater than Sideris. Some correspondent does the usual hoopla on how he ranked among the greatest strikers in the world and all that usual jazz. Anyway, there was basically no information on this guy anywhere on the net, so I was wondering if the people here can shed some light?

look at this

PAPAEMMANOUIL
Player huge, fantastic, brilliant and the most intelligent of Greek land was Andreas Papaemmanouil. Born 18/2/1939 in Neo Faliro and did a great career with Panathinaikos, and recently voted the top 11ada of the 60.

Papaemmanouil:
blessing for those who saw him play
The "Papamanolis" like shouting then had terrible shooting incredible speed and strength, but also very good transfers data to rank the top with a difference of his generation.
* 1954: The first football steps did with the shirt of Piraeus to just 15 for the championship A Piraeus, where after a 2-3 game against the second team, was promoted to major. There he had as his opponent George Sideris, who started as a right back. Impressed with his performances and powerful shots attempted and immediately piqued the interest of many groups.
* 1958: the transcription of Panathinaikos real saga unfolded: initially Asprogerakas, National coach and friend of Panathinaikos Mantzavelaki persuaded to get the young ace. They agreed and began training with the clover. But the best man (his sister's godfather) and Olympiakos was a fanatic because he's worked on his father warned him saying: "So go to Panathinaikos and your son will have a problem ..."! So not a problem to his father said 'yes' to Olympic without feeling well and without want, too. Eventually the "saved" his sister, Liberty, who phoned Mantzavelaki of impending seizure by the player's eternal rival. Eventually the boat ... Port (!) Mesopelaga found him to fish and closed the agreement in a hotel in Athens. The Piraeus took 100,000 drachmas himself, but agreed to take 25,000 drachmas in the hands only got 8 thousand drachmas!
* Premier made against AEK in New Philadelphia and despite the initial (large) stress the match ended 1-1 with him to score the only goal green! Panathinaikos remained where football has grown 10 years and won 5 championships (60, 61, 62, 64, 65), and 2 cups of Greece: the first in 1967 when they won 1-0 and Panionios of mane, and Dede with Intzoglou 1-0 and the second in 1969 (2 years and 2 days later) when he won the Olympic drawing of lots as there was still no extension (normal 1-1). As a leading European time are battling Juventus where the clover resisted with great difficulty losing 1-2 in Turin. In the 1-1 home Papaemmanouil formed the final 1-1 to thunder 15 meters.
* 1963: Panathinaikos wanted only a draw in the last race to win another championship in a row but the defeat in the National Karaiskaki (2-4) caused a storm of reactions, as Papaemmanouil and teammate accused of taking bribes to have reduced performance which of course had no personality! But this was the beginning of the end for the big ace and although the Greek team regained the top 2 other times when you created the great Olympic team with pepper, and gradually dissolved hastily superb ensemble (best of all time as he myself) had created the 4-3-3 Bompek first applied to fires and throwing the green! Undue and largely triumvirate of Kitsiou, and Pilihos Bravakou, army officers and appointed the junta.
* 1968: being a foreign body in Panathinaikos go for 6 months with Loukanidi, Bella and Panagiotidis Kartemperi in Sydney (Australia).
* 1969: AEK wanted him very much and after 65 failed attempt to acquire it own him after 4 years. He signed in Nea Ionia Icarus but with intervention Aslanidis canceled the contract and so wore the tawny getting 100.000drch. He remained there 3 years 1969-72 to winning the championship in 1971 while leading European time with the biceps is the victory (the main Papaemmanouil) on the Inter Milan 3-2 in the Champions Cup (1972: 1-4, 3-2) .
* 1972: suddenly decided to hang up the shoes just football in the 33. The farewell match was against the National, where he played the last 10 minutes to get to know the apotheosis, while his team was awarded plaques, awards and one rabbit (!) As was his nickname, as it was very fast. Moved when fans gathered and gave him 7,500 drachmas as a tribute to this great player that honored the colors of their team.
* The League had 257 participants, 193 with Panathinaikos and AEK Athens with 63 and 86 and achieved goals, of which 79 with the clover on the chest and the remaining 7 with biceps.

The Papaemmanouil the National
By galanolefki 16 innings and had 7 goals playing from 1958-1965 and made his debut against France in the court of Alexandras Avenue after calling the Greek technician Kleanthis Maropoulos. The match ended 1-1 with the Greek ace to make perfect debut by scoring a stunning free-kick only "Greek" end (1-1). The day after the race he set a high school party playing the loudspeakers phase of the goal!

Papaemmanouil-moments
* He was born across the stage so the Karaiskaki home to be the scapegoat of Olympic fans, after a failure of their team.
* It remains permanently in New Styra Evia. Works a 5x5 golf, deals with fishing (especially in octopuses) and bathrooms do all winter.
* He has worked as interim coach of Panathinaikos the periods 1980 to 1981 (succeeded by Ronnie Allen) and 1982-1983 (succeeded by Stefan Kovac) as coach of the National hopes of Greece and the Renaissance which took Arta soon stopped football, going to the group 4 times for 7 whole years!
* 2 holds important records: it is he who scored the first goal in the history of PAO in the A Division (2-1 vs. Panaigialeiou) but also the first European goal of the group (at 1-1 with Juventus) and is also and the first player who wore the jersey of both Panathinaikos and AEK Athens in the First Division.
** Remembered for all the airy game and very powerful shots unleash against opponents outbreaks. Voted in the top 60 11ada, which are well: Economopoulos, Gaitatzis, Kamara, Loukanidis, Polychroniou, T. Sarawak, Gioutsos, Domazos, Nestoridou and iron. Classic midfielder, kontrolarismenos, with two very strong legs and dried shots left breathless the best goalkeepers. The advent of vertical sowed panic in any defense. Transformed Panathinaikos, the Greek National Team and Greek football in the 60's. One of the greatest strikers who wore the shirt with the shamrock is Andrew Papaemmanouil.

Georgatos came to Inter with and did impress for a few weeks then started crossing from closer to the halfway line than the by-line and quickly became a liability with few good moments. He was brought back to Inter seemingly for nostalgic reasons but was a total waste the second time around, also thanks to injuries. He never had a good season overall in Serie A.

To illustrate the point, after Inter sent him back to Greece, he even lost his place as a starter in Olympiakos as that season went on.

If you need other Inter fans to chime in on how not-so-great he was, I'll bring 'em over.

Wouldn't say he was a success in Serie A even if he wasn't the worst player ever.

Didn't watch much of Georgatos, barely had Serie A coverage when he played for us.

Karagounis.. imho he never got a fair chance with us.

Zagorakis was indeed the mvp of Euro 2004, I even called it before he won it! :proud: dude had heart.

Yeah, Karagounis was highly rated in Greece (deservedly) but we never gave him a fair chance. He didn't do too badly for us overall though.

Agree about Zagorakis. He had an awesome tournament overall. Best I've seen him play.
