I know this tournament has been discussed a bit in the general youth NT thread but since the tournament starts in about a week, it would be better to put the stuff here. For Croatia the tournament starts on the 18th against Morocco but they play a friendly against Brazil in the UAE on the 12th.

My expectations for this team is very high. No reason why they should not at least make it to the quarters. All of there players are there except Basic. This is probably the strongest generation Croatia has ever produced with Lulic Halilovic Muric Brodic Roguljic.

 

I like the goalie Maric too! shame about Basic's injury, he deserves to be there after doing so much to help them qualify. are any of the defenders anything special?

Why wasn't Basic included?

This team to me, on paper at least, looks very strong.

 

Basic didn't go because of injury/fitness, but he played for Hajduk a week ago so not sure really!

for all the hype this generation has gotten, in big tournaments this team has been a major bust. At the Euros they used the Russia-Italy "fixed match" excuse, but everybody forgets they failed to score in their opening two games there and beat the worst team in the group only

And when is this going to stop? Croatian clubs and even national teams have no business to underestimate anybody. It's all down to our pathetic coaching and training regimes. And the players buy into the hype way too easily, what has Halilovic done to warrant this hype?
