Guys, as soon as the first leg match against Roma was over I could not help but wonder about the following questions: What are your opinions? How do you think the absences will effect us in terms of performance?

1. Do you think Cruz can fill Adriano's shoes and at least score a goal to help us in the return leg?

2. Is Crtiano Zanetti able to effectively substutute for Cambiasso?

3. Will Veron play in the middle of instead of Cristiano and Cambiasso with Stankovic playing next to him?

4. Will Mancini select Ze Maria at right back and play van der Meyde on the right wing?

5. Will Cordoba play instead if Materazzi?

In response to question 1 I believe Cruz is capable of at least scoring a single goal to help us on our way. I do not believe he is the sort of player that can put in a performance similar to that of Adriano's in the first leg.

In response to question 2 i believe Cristiano Zanetti is more than capable of filling in for Cambiasso but I am not sure why he was not selected ahead of of Stankovic in the first leg. Perhaps it is the favouritism that we have spoken about for most of the season or maybe Cristiano was not fully fit. Either way, I do not see how Cristiano will be omiited from the starting eleven in the return match.

I believe question 3 depends also on how Kily pulls up. He went down quite heavily on a knee during the second half and I was concerned that he had suffered a serious injury as he was clutching his knee and could not get up. But after the magic spray he seemingly recovered and was back up and running. If Kily is fit to start then I believe Stankovic will be benched and Veron will play alongside Cristiano Zanetti. If Kily is not fit to play then Stankovic will occupy the left wing position and Veron will play alongside Cristiano Zanetti.

With regards to question 4 I do not see any other option. I doubt that Mancini will trust the trust the right back position to anyone but Ze Maria. As Karagounis is not available then I believe van der Meyde might start on the right. And when you think about it, if that is the case, our right side is going to be quite exposed as Ze Maria and van der Meyde are not exactly great defensive players.

And lastly, in response to question 5, does anyone know how fit Cordoba is? in the opening few minutes of the match Inter were lucky to not concede a goal a couple of goals as Cassano's and Totti's pace kept Matrix and the Balkan Bullet on the back foot. We need Cordoba to be fit otherwise Cassano and Totti's pace will eventually catch us out. Also, if Cordoba does not play, who is going to lift the trophy in (if we win -----> knock on wood) in Captain Zanetti's absence?

Inter hail super Adriano

Monday 13 June, 2005

Inter have hailed star striker Adriano after his two goals gave the club one hand on the Coppa Italia trophy.

The Brazilian bagged a brace at Roma last night to put his side in pole position to finally lift some silverware.

"Adriano is an extraordinary player," stated boss Roberto Mancini. "His goals are always very important for us.

"We did have a few problems early on in the game but we did well to get over those obstacles and end the first half with a healthy lead."

Owner Massimo Moratti was also full of praise for the player who was given special permission by Brazil to feature.

"I saw him before the game and he was well up for it," he stated. "His two goals have decided the first leg."

Adriano, plus a number of his Argentine colleagues, won’t be available for Wednesday’s match in Milan given their international commitments.

However, Inter are now expected to win the Italian Cup even if Mancini is still remaining cautious.

"I don’t think it is over," he said. "There are still 90 minutes to play. Liverpool have all taught us something."

Mancio was refereeing to Liverpool’s Champions’ League win, when they came from 3-0 down against Milan to win on penalties.

I dunno man you should check it out first. Well I hope we can score atleast 1 more from Cruz and I think we can hold them. Coppa Italia is ours!

i am not happy with the fact that JZ will be away, it is a captains right to lift the trophy. argentina have allready qualified..so what is the point of our captain playing, he was a sub in the brazil match?

his second major trophy in his entire career at inter, and he wont be able to lift the trophy :frownani:

this is all under the assumption that we have won the cup allready, but there is still 90 minutes to play

Regarding Kily. Moratti stated that the Brazilians and Argentines will not be available for the second leg. Meaning Kily will most likely be representing Argentina rather than the Coppa final.

yes, it really is a shame. but they are called up for the confederations cup in germany, not for the WCQ. I don't know why, but kily is not included in argentina squad, so we will only be missing JZ and cambiasso (sadly two of the finest). adriano and karagounis will also play in this cup, although kara got ingured today and will miss the opening game against brazil.

I was thinking, should we opt for a 4-5-1 formation for the game ?

Roma will most certainly field a three man attack as they have nothing to lose, which will weaken their already not so formidable midfield department. We'll have two more players in midfield which should form a huge advantage for us. If we control midfield then we'll run the game and dictate play. Mancini tried a 5 man midfield before against Messina (in the first half) and it was so one sided that it was an embarrassment.

I want so see this midfield:

------------------CZ-----------------------

--VDM---Veron------Deki--------Kily----

With Cruz being our point striker. In the second half we can bring on Oba for Deki/Veron and take advantage of Roma's tired legs. Martins does better when he comes off the bench - FACT.

What do you think ?

Argentina's coach Pekerman picked JZ, Cambiasso and Kily for the Confederations Cup, but as Inter asked him to select 2 out of the 3 players and let Inter keep 1 of them he chose JZ and Cambiasso.

As the Brits say, What a wanker! Piss off Pekerman!

What a fool! If I was JZ I would quit the NT and show them up for denying me of holding up my own trophy. what a shame. I hope both Brazil and Argentina fail next WC. We don't need arrogant teams in teh WC. Italy will win it, or better yet, England. Anyone but the Brazilians or Argies.

I believe that Emre is injured and Davids is busy snorting stuff so they're both not available.

Karagounis is on international duty with Greece.

So Deki WILL play

FORZA DEJAN !!! :star:

"hey you doped up punk, one word and I'm gonna pound you."

I liked it when Deki got in the face of one of the Roma players yesterday. Every team needs one of thoes guys, especially when your captain acts very uncaptainlike in passion and showing fire.
Yeah, in the first half when that scumbag Perrotta :finger: stepped on him.

I'm kind of sad....cuz Bobo can't celebrate with the team on Wednesday.....:( if we win or lose
Well, if we lose there won't be any reason whatsoever to celebrate don't you think ? :D

Vieri was our best player in the semis return leg at home to Cagliari. BOBO also scored against Bologna in the round of 16. So he contributed. ;)
