"We are facing a boy of seventeen who plays like a mature crack. From now on I can not rather than call to he Don Elias Figueroa" (Don = mister) Words of Hernan Solis Uruguayan great journalist.

Don Elías Figueroa sure, is more that Jose Leandro Andrade.
Elías Figueroa, if it can be more than Juan Alberto Schiaffino.

Heroearaucano, I name Arce instead of Eyzaguirre who won too few caps in standard of Chilean players that have not much candidates. Eyzaguirre ended his NT career at only 27 years old, is by far too short for defender. Moreover, in the period he was caps between 1959 - 1966, he won only 39 caps while Leonel Sanchez won 59 caps in the same period. So, do you know the reason why he disapeared for many games ?

Dearman Luis Eyzaguirre :worship: is a legend in south america Ance not, but if you have your opinion, fine.

Eyzaguirre had a knee injury that cut its level in 1967, was never the same, never recovered, slowed, but was still respected. In Chile and South America Eyzaguirre is a legend undisputed.

In the conduct of the ball FIFO Eyzaguirre looks like much to Alexis Sanchez today. Obvious, Eyzaguirre is better than Alexis Sanches, but both have played for the bands.

4) level historic chilean club
Patricio Yañez, Jorge Robledo, Ruben Marcos, Fabian estay, Ignacio Prieto, Humberto Cruz, etc etc etc.

Eyzaguirre was among the firsts "Wing back" in history, before Facchetti, along with Djalma Santos and Nilton Santos.

Luis Eyzaguirre vs Nilton Santon wins Fifo Eyzaguirre
SBde_84k2o0
minute 1:48 to the 2: 06

In the conduct of the ball FIFO Eyzaguirre looks like much to Alexis Sanchez today. Obvious, Eyzaguirre is better than Alexis Sanches, but both have played for the bands.

I'd include Zalazar in the attacking midfielders list.

I definitely don't think Salas deserves to be ranked ahead of Zamorano or especially Fernando Morena. Salas goal record is considerably weaker than both and he has a short prime.

I's also rank Sotil below Magico, Piendibene and Romano. Defintaly think you've placed Suarez to high, no way I think he deserves to be ranked ahead of Caceres, Gradin and Morera for now. I'd place him below Ruben Sosa and Recoba at the very highest.

missing Carlos Reinoso the best 10 classic of Chile, Lack Francisco (chamaco) Valdés 1 ° top scorer of Chilean league and not he was striker or forward . Have not been mentioned chilean Attacking Midfielder.

Teodoro Fernandez is 1 or 2 not 5.

(I agree with stewie at all, except in Zamorano and Salas is difficult choose the best between the two)

Dearman good job

I found an interview to Luis Eyzaguirre in 1966!!! prior to the World.

Tells how he operated on the meniscus in the knee. Removed meniscus. lost many games in the chilean selection for 1966 FIFA World Cup qualification.
The injury was developed in 1964 and for 1967 did not play like the best, he played other teams minor but it was legend.

Best chilean player in 1963 and 1966
Best defender of chile 1960 to 1963; 1964, 1965, 1967.
Best defender american cup 1967

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_VS1eJm_7vSo/SjexzZg6WnI/AAAAAAAAAmU/eszIr_YyWho/s1600-h/SDA9600020003.JPG

Tells that for in centenary game FIFA in 1963 he played in the first selection by FIFA. Eyzaguirre in that game fought against Bobby Charlton (Left Winger!!! )and neutralized, but Djalma Santos not could with Bobby Charlton and Djalma lost but Eyzaguirre win to Charlton in Wembley.

is interesting interview.
Eyzaguirre had stature in the world.

Surely taht you not was see him played to Eyzaguirre ( not investigated).

Luis Eyzaguirre innovated in the wing back position.
He was one of the creators of wing back.

On the other hand was considered the best in the world in his time and Francisco Arce no in 90s.
look min 1:26 to 1:40 (hablas español obvio)

The trouble with Eyzaguirre was that it he was playing at high level by little time, because he suffered an incurable injury to the meniscus.
Even went to world cup 66 and all knew that was injured.

read the history:

But that was bad luck.
Otherwise it would Luís Eyzaguirre could have been the best of all the decade.

Another Chilean player should be here is Jorge Aravena Plaza "el mortero".
Is very devalued.
was a lefty deep-lying forward in 80s
His international career ended because of incident in the Maracana (1989)

He made history
It is part of the historic squad in clubs as:
Puebla FC. (maximum reference in the club)
Catholic University F.C
Deportivo Cali ( intitucional idol )
So today is greatly missed.

Spain played (Real Valladolid) and in 25 games and made 10 goals
and he was only midfielder. ( was expensive to be bought as Humberto Suazo today)

He made more than 200 goals and 51 goals in just one year.
repeat, he was not a striker, was midfielder.

to Jorge Orlando Aravena Plaza
nicknamed him el mortero (the mortar)

Jorge Aravena
Ignacio Prieto
Jaime Pizarro

and Eladio Rojas.

Gamarra is very very good
But Cordova is too.
Both are better than Dario Pereyra
I think Gamarra is better than Ivan Cordoba
and Dario Pereyra

Center-Back
Francisco Zuluaga

Central Midfielder
3. Freddy Rincón
5. Leonel Álvarez
Alejandro Brand

Attacking Midfielder
4. Carlos Valderrama

Winger
3. Willington Ortiz
Forward
8. Faustino Asprilla
Antony de Ávila
but I like your list and must be add to full back Luis Fernando Herrera

Dario pereyra was clearly better than Cordoba, no comparison...and obviously you can't compare him with Gamarra, arguably the best SA center back of the last 15 years or so
