As suggested in the Milan forum, there should be a tribute thread in the World Football forum for one of the greatest players in history, Paolo Maldini. He has just two more matches left in his entire career, which began at Milan in 1985 and will finish in Milan in 2009. It's an incredible story for an incredible player, and it will be a very emotional farewell for the legendary defender.

This weekend will be his last match at the San Siro against Roma, and the following week will be his absolute last against Fiorentina. If you get the chance, whether you like Milan or not, whether you like the Serie A or not, make sure you watch these last two games, as they will be the end of an absolutely magical career.

I will leave all the stats and stories to the rest of you, so feel free to add your comments, congratulations, praise, anecdotes, etc...

Shame he is retiring, but he had to sooner or later, and he is finishing, what has been, a tremendous career.

The man is a legend, admirable, loyal and most important of all, a great sportsman.

Incredible player, a local boy and a loyal honest servant to his home town club. It's quite an astonishing career, considering many on here weren't even born when he made his debut back in 1985.

He's a great sportsman, he's a legend and above all he is a winner.
